Tj was more of a tinkerer he would openly admit he didn't build many lasers. And I'm sure here stuck around as long as he'd did for the reason many of us do. We all just like to bullsht with our peers.

@jerry there's nothing wrong with a little pee between mates lol

@tonyt, who are the ones the dont have to follow rules? I see norbyxs status was revoked as well. And if there any stragglers, its prob because it hasn't been brought to the mods attn yet. After all. They are here to moderate, not make our time here miserable. There is a fine balance of doing the right thing and keeping subscriber numbers high.

Yeah I thought every vet who didn't meet the 1yr requirement has been stripped of their vet status? Not including Dr.Laser.

Anyway, I'm off. I'll check back tomorrow :p

DrLasers for example? He is the opposite though.. Been here for years but not enough posts... But is that ok to break the "rules" that way is it?

Every now and then there are new members or any member for that matter that really contribute to the forum in a technical aspect and Avery thanks them. I think this is completely fair. Now I don't know if that's the case dr laser, if not let's string him up with the rest lol

Michael, where your thesis goes wrong is your insistence that I do blame the veterans. I do not. I understand the need for rules, and I am abiding by them. My statement was not a condemnation of blame to the veterans. While I understand why you feel that it does. That is not the intention, and if it wasn't clear before, perhaps you should take it as such, by me saying as much.

You have mentioned numerous times that you feel that
some Veterans didn't want you to become a veteran.
Your first post on this Thread states so....

Well, I received word that my veteran status has been revoked.

So, for all the vets that were bothered that I was allowed to be a vet, you need not worry anymore.

You can deny that you blame some vets but the words
are clearly there.

Perhaps it was complaints from Non-Vets because of your
premature entry into the Vets section and they may have
been jealous.... Just saying there are other possibilities
other than only the Vets.

BloomPyle, it didn't start off this way. It started off as just a vent. TJ successfully derailed another thread.

Unfortunately this thread was derailed by yourself not T_J.

Had you understood what his 1st post was clearly saying
rather than go off on an undeserved rant against his post
and had you just ignored it this Thread would not have been
derailed...IMO..

Cmon guys, the simple fact was that SBA was accidentally let into the Vets section without the 1 year requirement by Avery. Avery then made a mistake and also let norby in without 1 year. In order to keep it fair, he had to remove it from both members. Simple as that, there were no complaints or anything involved, just Avery trying to keep it fair and fixing up his mistakes.

The 1 year requirement wasn't always there, and neither was the post requirement, the vets section used to be a place where people would earn access, based on other peoples recommendations to let them in. Dr.Laser was probably one of many that gained access this way many years ago.

If you can remember back a few years ago, the vet section used to be controlled by no more than a password. That idea was tossed after the number of times it was leaked :D

I'm going to try and offer an opinion here that may be unpopular with some...but oh what the hell!

Okay, first. I think SBA is meaning that he understands the reasons for his revocation, and while he doesn't like it, he understands the reasons and is not angry with them. He is acknowledging who he thinks is responsible, but not getting mad at them. That is sort of how I read this all. Yes he is mad, but more at the situation than at the individuals.

Okay, second. What new tech gets made available in the vets section first? Maybe there are things but I have never seen them. We have had a few threads regarding "new tech", but it was during April fools just to cause a ruckus on the general forum.

Lastly, in regards to the post-application of the rules. Allowing someone in, even if they are a quality member, before they have "done their time" is a bad precedent. Then the vet section becomes a place anyone can get into if they post 18+ posts a day for few months. In regards to Dr. Laser. If anyone thinks he doesn't deserve it, speak up. I think in this case time+quality trumps post count+quality. He has been here for 5 years and his rep power is a third of his post count-and with good reason.

Now, did I ever say anything to anybody regarding this rule? No. I like to play well with others, and just because somebody starts playing in a more "elite" sandbox on the playground doesn't mean I should pitch a fit. However I do think the rule is there for a reason. The word "veteran" has a connotation of being there for awhile. Being time tested, as it were.

Thanks,
Isaac

PS- Veteran doesn't mean good member. And you are a good member. I think people get those confused sometimes. Just keep doing what you are doing and keep your head up.

Do not get me wrong!!

I did not say that DrLaser does not deserve to be a vet! I can quite clearly see going through his history that he is a VALUABLE member of this forum!
All i am saying is that if you are going to have a 1000 post + 1 year MINIMUM requirement then that should be the requirement?
Maybe it should be 1 year and 50 rep points?? That would make a hell of a lot more sense to me?? As you say, any idiot (such as myself :) can post 10-20 posts a day for a few months but not everyone can EARN 50+ rep so easily... Damn, i have scraped by to get my 18! lol:beer:

Haha what happened here :D

IMO rules should be adhered up from the beginning.

But kicking after he was allowed to stay in the Vet section, is wrong in my book.

Well I got approved and kicked out on the same day. Personally it makes not much difference since in the little time I was approved I didn't see much of anything in the vets section.
We shall see each other in that section in one year..

Well, it's clear that Jerry is completely misunderstanding my intentions. There doesn't seem to be a way to resolve this.

With regard to the rules, I never believed the forum is a democracy. The way I see it is essentially, this is Avery's house and we operate under his house rules. He and the other mods tried to make those rules as fair as possible. But, since the forum is his house, he's allowed to make whatever exceptions he likes, whether they're popular or not (see search bar).

I am happy to get to come to his house and share info, and sometimes but heads with, so many amazing house guests. I got to sit in the comfy chair for a bit and it was nice enough. So there was a mistake in someone letting me in the comfy chair and I had to get up. No biggie. I'm still gonna have a good time at the pot luck!

SBA - Who cares?

I mean honestly?

There are VERY few threads/posts in that section, and you've already seen them. Sit back, relax. You'll be back there soon.

Btw, there is an even more exclusive section of the forum, formerly known as the black hole. That one is even hidden from veterans :shhh:

It's the section where mods bitch about the rest of us, in the same way that vets mostly bitch about each other, and everyone else in the vet section :p

You just said in another thread...

Another hypocrite I see.

BTW I had more rep points than you when I was banned over a year ago. So your statement is BS. If its good for one, its good for all.

Dr.Laser was in the Vet's section long before the current rules were established. One of the most basic rules of law, is that laws are NOT retroactive.

Ped was not being a hypocrite in any way.

I was sticking up for you too numb nutz. He bends the rules for Dr. Laser, but spouts in another thread no one is above the rules. I'd be pissed if I was you.

They ONLY reason why they started being strict with the rules is because LaserBeak hit 1K posts. Otherwise nothing would have changed.

If you had not figured out I dont care about being banned.

1. No you were not, you're again trolling for drama.

2. LB was one of MANY members who was raking up posts at a high rate, and the question of how to manage Vet's section was brought up before he became active.

3. Once again, you're dismissing facts in favor of your own pathetic reality.

Edit
Opps I hit the wrong rep button too....:yabbem:

Jerry

Jerry that's a blatant lie. Yes I'm calling you a liar.

Everyone knows you have a love affair with TJ, that's ok, it's your right. Nothing wrong with that ;) :shhh:

No reason to hide in the closet and blame the plus rep on "the wrong rep button" though.

You guys need a reality check.

Being banned, rep points, and post count mean nothing in real life. Its so low on lifes priorities its not even worth debating.

The reason I still lurk here is because I have friends here, and I'm still into the laser hobby. They may keep banning me but you still read the words I write. I could care less if they stay posted or not. Its only opinions.

Some of you guys really need a life.

I had over 380 reps when I was banned over a year ago, and they didnt mean a thing. Points dont measure the man you are. They mean nothing in real life.

You have previously several times stated that yes in fact you do care about rep points.

You have experimented with trying out a different user name, before my time, but came back to troll as TJ strictly because of post, and rep count, and you stated as much.

Grow some balls, and brain before you call others hypocrite. Hypocrite.

1. Bullshit. If you did not care about being banned, you would not keep coming back, and announcing yourself as TJ.

2. LaserBeak was one of the reasons, but by far not the only one for why the new process for Vets was created.

3. Dr.Laser is not above the rules. Once again for the slow kids in class: The rules in question did not exist at the time.

I realize the forum has changed and none of us know the real reason he was banned.

Don't take my word for it...

Regarding TJ, there was a period where I was literally getting several messages a day about people upset with him, and drama in general related to him.

Since he was banned, I have barely received any complaints about fighting / drama on LPF.

I do not realistically see him being able to return because I feel like the same problems will just happen again.

My thought process regarding the issue is as follows:

1) user perspective: is LPF more enjoyable with less fighting and drama in general since the ban? (please email me with your thoughts, I am always open to feedback)

2) admin perspective: is LPF more enjoyable with less fighting and drama in general since the ban? (yes)

People perceive things differently so want to make sure I am always getting as much "valid data" as possible before making decisions. Based on what I was hearing before it was pretty clear that people were unhappy.

Please do email me though if you think I am missing stuff. Feedback is always welcomed.

Enjoy the forum, all

Best Regards
-Avery
