I just have to share with you my latest treasure. It's not a laser, it's a book. A book about lasers. By the man who made the first one.

Not remarkable maybe, but I just found out about this book a couple of weeks ago (it was published 13 years ago) and even though Maiman has been one of my favorite people for almost 30 years, until now I didn't know he'd written a book. So I go to order a used copy online and I see they are offering a signed one. Well of course I HAD to have it, LOL!

It's inscribed to the former owners (wish it was to me!) and I've edited out their last name to protect their privacy. Um, in the photo- not the actual book.

Never in a million years did I think that I'd some day have his signature on something! :D

Would have been too cool if he would have eched it in with a high powered 445.

That is insanely awesome!! Congratulations! This would be a worthy addition to my library or any other.

If I find one I am buying it. Period. That is a piece of laser history I want. Is it a first edition?

Hold onto that, as it shall become a treasure to be sure...Maybe get the autograph confirmed and have paperwork on it. As one of the top ten technological advancements of this era, and with him having passed away in 2007, I could see that becoming valuable.

I have little doubt. But even if it didn't have any significant monetary value, to me it's priceless!
