Bought a fujitsu lifebook t5010 the other day, runs too hot and loud. Then I read it's typical for fujitsu products. Even at idle it's so loud that it wants to take off. A friend of mine has an HP 2730p but the calibration is a bit fu** up. I bought mine for the better specs and more functions( buttons to quickly change the orientation of the screen etc. ) We both got them second hand. The seller accepts returns so I will send it back for a full refund. I won't buy fujitsu again, based on what I read on the internet. Do you guys have any good recommendations as to what I should go for next? I need something for programming, taking notes in class without resting my arm on and get burned like the fujitsu... Maybe I should wait for something like this? Sony A4-sized digital paper notepad is light, durable and responsive #DigInfo - YouTube

Its normally the HP's that sound like a jet at take off, not seen many fuji's here.

Easy way to tell if the calibration is off is if the air coming out of the vent during normal use is hot , then it simply needs to run at that speed.

If its cold then you can throttle it back with speedfan.exe freely available off the tinterweb.

That Sony pad looks the business.

It's weird because the one I got has almost no signs of use which means new. I don't want to send it back, but sometimes it gets on my nerves with the fan spinning when i write in windows journal and not doing anything. Maybe installing win8 would help?

What is your CPU usage at?
How hot is the air that comes out?

I cant see how an SSD would help, apart from a huge performance boost?

Incidentally, have you googled it to see if others face this problem?
