Here is something that you probably didn’t know: If you post a message with the word “ga y” (without the quotes or space) in it, the forum software replaces the word “ga y”
with the phrase “I’m a stupid spammer”. Message preview looks OK, but when you post it, you'll see the text get replaced. Go ahead and try it yourself! Why is this set up to do this? I don't know,
perhaps the moderators feel that spammers are ga y? I couldn’t agree more!

Not to say that being ga y (or being a spammer) is necessarily a bad thing, but there is no doubt: spammers are ga y.

Thanks for reading this!

OUT!
(no pun intended)

This is to prevent spam. In the past a lot of spam had the word g a y in it.

"I am a stupid spammer" will be replaced for words that are in the blocked words list.

A lot of spammer count on specific words being in the link text of the links they post. This is to increase their search engine ranking. The goal in replacing the words is so their links are meaningless and will not help the spammers gain better search engine rankings.

I have wanted to post on a general "what a forum!" thread for some time. I have not found a better place for it...so this thread will do ;)

One thing about visiting the old threads is that you can see the exponetial rise in our knowledge of laser building.... It  then consisted of "I want to build a burner, I have seen the Kipkay video....."
I know we still get those but we have progressed through the first home made red burners with SenKat GB's providing the parts needed, to the higher power ones we have today.
We have advanced the blue ray pointer to the stage where there are dozens of builders making and selling them. Now we are on the "more power" road with the HD LD's....
We have gone from DDL's original LM317 driver circuit to the stage where we have members, rkcstr, Dr lava et al, building and selling high tech mini drivers that fit into Aixiz modules.

Many small spiro and tunnel projectors have seen the light of day.
We have seen pointers get smaller, neater and cheaper.
The first home made yellow poiinter has made an appearance.
I cannot wait to see what happens next :)

All the above is down to sharing our experience, the old threads are our history... and nothing to do with spammers, sorry for the thread-jack ;)

There are two ways to become ex-members. The first way is if an admin/global moderator deletes a users account. The other way is if you delete your own account. In this case, the member Placebo deleted his own account.
