Don't worry about it. We all have some form of demons that haunt our minds and make life difficult for us. For a racing mind and anxiety have you ever tried meditation? Sounds kinda silly, but it can help some people.

Hey guys,

As some of you probably noticed I've decided to keep my 2.5W 532 lab laser after trying to sell it 3 times :wtf: I also tend to have trouble staying on top of one decision as my mind races all over the place and sometimes I want to keep a laser I have and other times I want to get rid of it for something else. I do suffer from anxiety and OCD so I wanted to apologize if this has angered or frustrated anybody here. Just wanted you to be aware that I realize some of my behavior can be annoying at times :(

Thanks
-Alex :yh:

No need to apologize Alex...
I change my mind all the time... It's a part of life
and has no bearing on your character.

If I tried to sell something a few times without a
taker... I'd find a reason to keep it as well.

There are many genetic disorders that are in everyone in varying degrees of severity. This includes things like Autism, OCD, Dyslexia etc. Mental health carries such a stigma surrounding it, so it doesn't surprise me that many choose not to talk about it. Even simple cases of depression and anxiety are usually ignored. But sometimes I find it to be the opposite however, especially in workplaces. Depression and anxiety is the focus, whilst neurological disorders are ignore entirely. I totally agree with you Radim, I wish I could rep you. And GSS, I agree with you as well. Can't rep you either.

I too am glad that this forum is very empathetic with each other. We have a very good international community on here. :thanks:

The social stigma is the biggest problem of psychiatric diagnosis IMO. Even more if you cannot live with that as you might feel as not being equal to "normal" people.
And to be honest, I've read some studies that people coming through psychospiritual emergency (or crisis) are often classified as some form of schizophrenic disorder - as European classification does not know something like psychospiritual emergency. In US classification there is some category for that already (better as it is not considered as disease). That's very bad to consider these as being disease as it is not. It is some kind of higher process of spiritual developement of individual and if treated wrongly and violently stopped, more and severe damage is caused instead of using its self healing power to develop in wider person... These phenomenon is really interesting as it is very valuable in some cultures (unfortunately not in western culture) as form of becoming a higher person. Hard to describe shortly... I think and believe it is something that takes one on trip in the world I call "surreal" in my artworks. A lot might be learned during this trip and you will be never the same as before... But it might be wild if no experienced guide is with you and helping you to go through it. And this is the only what can help you - no chemicals - maybe just something to help you calm down or sleep sometimes, but standard medication just brakes the process. But it does not mean psychical disorders does not exist, psychospiritual emergency is just different and hard to recognize if that specialist is not aware of the slight differences (especially in its crisis form it reminds schizophrenia a lot). I've read a lot about that and it is a very interesting topic and very current as more people from western culture go through it. Hopefully the psychiatry will recognize it in Europe soon - more and more doctors are even focussed on that and studying it, but it will take long time...

Edit: The keywords in english are "spiritual emergency" and "spiritual crisis". However, if anyone is interested look for Stanislav Grof's and others works on this.

Don't worry about it---am sure nobody actually cares, LFP members are a pretty tolerant group, generally. It all seems to be just attention craving/attention garnering personal issues somehow displaced onto/into LPF for reasons unknown--same as this thread.

While the LPF is not a forum for "acting out" and personal mental/emotional problems and issues--it happens. The typical routines and patterns are well known and recognized everyone as they are often repeated . threads of going to buy, should I buy, bought/ordered, got, and selling shortly thereafter and not selling/keeping and permutations of same + threads disappearing along with all the many comments and work done in responding to them by members as if they never existed depending upon which way the wind is blowing on any given day.
Alot of it just seems to be just attention craving/attention garnering personal issues somehow displaced onto/into LPF for reasons unknown--same as this thread.

For the most part--am reasonably certain that none of it actually matters to anyone as indicated by the comments of several members ---so nothing to say sorry about. Other side of the coin--you do a good job as an LPF moderator weeding out the trolls, spam, and multiple account offenders where OCD is probably more of an asset than a liability so...

The only thing I can offer is the same thing I have have said before if you don't know what you are doing or why and can't control impulsiveness --- Use the following rule of thumb: "Think about what you want to do or are doing and why first, than think about it again, then think about it a third time, then don't do it."

Had laser, decided to sell, changed mind, didn't sell. See nothing to to apologize for at all.

If you feel you have OCD/Depression/Anxiety, please speak to a professional. Most do genuinely want to help, and a simple fact of life is that there are are times when it is ok to, and normal to feel sad, anxious, nervous etc,. Nor do little rituals like checking the lights are are off, patting your pants for keys, trying the lock handle after just locking it add up to OCD.
