On a different forum, someone purchased from me. They wanted to save money and inquired about cheaper shipping than what I normally offer.

I told them I would be able to ship for cheaper with the following conditions:
  • It would take up to 8 weeks to arrive
  • I would not be response for lost or damaged packages as it was not tracked or insured

They then did a detailed review of my service and vehemently complained that the shipping took so long.

So as a PSA to buyers online: You get what you pay for, if you're going to go out of your way request cheap+slow shipping don't complain to me when it's slow.

Yep, it sucks. That's the reason I only ship with tracking these days (when able to).

WTH??

makes you want to just say no--

IMHO the speed of delivery is second- DHL Express is the fasest BUT we(JL_LK & me) do not insist on it for the speed BUT for the secure delivery- MAYBE because they try to deliver from china in 2 or 3 days the boxes move too fast to allow inspecrion- MAYBE it the yellow 'DHL INSPECTED': tape on our boxes but so far out of maybe 120 boxes NONE were EVER opened -- this is a classic example of being 'penny wise BUT pound foolish'
"Oh look I saved 20$ on shipping!! wonder where my box is??"

anyone wanting cheap/free delivery from me needs to come on down to TEXAS and I will hand it over AND give you a cold beer:beer::beer::beer:

Did the shipment take longer than eight weeks? Longer than ten weeks?

I suppose that if the shipment took longer than expected, the customer might have some reason to complain, but even then, it's not your fault, especially if you offered another shipping method and tracking information.

I think the trouble is that some people will simply never be happy. They ask for something extra special, then settle for something ordinary, when they cannot afford what they want, then complain about not getting what they want.

I recently purchased a laser from China for super cheap, and didn't get what I wanted. I did contact the seller with my concern over not receiving what was advertised, but honestly, I considered it a risk buying a cheaper than believable laser from a site I knew nothing about, so receiving any laser at all was a win.

If the time between order/payment and handoff to the third party shipping company was acceptable, the rest is out of your control. Let's hope the review readers think for themselves...

cheers!

That's a reason to build in fast, insured shipping to your pricing. If you tell everyone the shipping is free and include it in the price, they all compliment your quick shipments. Now I realize that might not be practical in a competitive environment where others advertise the bare bones price. I love "free" 2nd day shipping even though somewhere inside I realize I'm paying for it - probably even overpaying.

It took a little less than 6 weeks, which is typical for larger packages sent over international ground shipping.

So it took two weeks LESS than you quoted, and the guy complained about how long it took?!

Maybe the guy was just really excited about the shipment and became a pest. Sometimes, when I'm waiting for a shipment, I worry that I have become a pest by asking for tracking info, photos, updates, etc., but I'm not usually one to settle for such a slow shipping method.

Well, I did say a maximum of 8 weeks. I guess he maybe was expecting 4 weeks?

That's what I try and do for most things now. Makes everyone happy :p

I hear ya, I have been there in such position where the buyer has literally started a dispute after less than 2 weeks, I would suggest both parties to "deal with it" as being a seller you have much more obligation to the transaction than the customer.
