ok, cool, thanks for the info. I did not know and/or either did not remember that the light emitted is a constant, regardless of how fast the housing of the said light producer is travelling at. So at just beyond lightspeed, I can overtake my own lights. Now I just need to figure out how to get my car to go that fast. lol.

But in my mind it just doesn't compute. That's not saying much, most of nothing makes sense to me anymore, but that's another topic. In my mind I see the headlight housing going at lightspeed, and thus the light coming from it, should then project out at its constant beyond the housing, regardless of how fast that housing is going.

But now comes to mind overtaking sound. So I can see how the same could, should, would, and I guess does apply to light as well within our scientific knowledge.

The new Through the wormhole is on Wednesday night I believe, discussing multi-dimensions and thus dimensional travel, which destroys our concept of light and time as we now see it. I do believe we live in a multi-dimensional creation, but we can only see/understand a small part of it so far. Should be a great show covering alot of this topic.

Thanks, Joe

No, you will not be able to overtake your headlights. You can be moving at 0.99C, and the photons your lights emit will still be moving away from you at C, as if you were standing still. Your inertial frame is moving at 0.99C. It's your frame of reference. Relative to you, your inertial frame is moving 0m/s. Within your inertial frame, relative to you, the light will be moving at C.

You also cannot accelerate to the speed of light, unless you know where to get infinite energy...

Ah yes, because you would have to be transferring it infinitely fast. Sounds like a fun invention for other things too... :p

I forgot about that, so it would take an infinite amount of time with infinite energy for a vehicle to travel at C to stand still in time.

Naah ..... it's more easy .....

pushing an object at light speed, it reach infinite mass in zero time, so you need equally infinite energy for move it ..... but the universe abhor both the zeroes and the infinites, so your object, when reach the light speed, is simply "spit out" in another universe, where "zero" and "light speed" are not limits :p

Considering how big the universe is, or even the size of galaxies, the speed of light isn't very fast; around the world almost 10 times in one second. Even at this speed a journey to the nearest earth-like planet is 20 years away. The fastest man made object is the Voyager probe which recently passed by Jupiter. It's traveling at 11 miles per second.

There is talk of trying to colonize Mars or the Moon. I think that is a dead end. If we can't survive on a planet so perfectly suited for life that life itself began on it, without polluting it, then how the hell are we to survive on a planet with no liquid water, no atmosphere, no magnetic poles, no protection from cosmic rays, and no resources?

A bit off topic I know, but I just watched the Sci channel and there was some show on that topic. Total waste IMO. There is nothing in space, nothing. Put satellites and telescopes up there for sure, but manned missions, especially to terrestrial locations, are pointless IMO. It's become a pissing match between countries. There are better things are taxes could be used for. Lets improve our own planet rather than look for another one.
