Old thread I know, but burn in really isn't an issue on any display technology unless you're displaying the same thing for a long amount of time. For a start your phone screen is usually only on for a few minutes at a time, and the display is always changing.

Yes the screen will degrade over time, but ALL displays do.

I've had my S2 for over 4 years now and have no signs of burn in. However, you may notice "splotches" in the screen if you look at a really dark image, but it's only really noticeable if you're in a totally dark room, basically looking at an image of nothing, and your eyes have adjusted. I think it might just be a manufacturing defect, so might not be in newer phones.

I find I've never had actually run the screen at full brightness, ever. At full brightness it's almost blinding. Heck I've even installed an app that allows you to dim the screen past the lowest brightness setting on the device itself.

AMOLED screens are sëxy as hell and you'll never be able to look at a LCD phone ever again :p

Glad to hear it. My current phone is about to die, it's a relic flip phone and the hinge is nearly dead so I have to make a decision for a new one soon :p

I'll respond to this tomorrow when I'm sober

^^^ Big night was it :p

As for burn in I have personally never heard of it happening. My cousin has had an S2 for three years now and there is absolutely no sign of burn in. Although I have heard of the LG G-Flex having this issue. Since the G-Flex is a curved screen I am sure that the difference in screen technology has caused this issue.

As for screen quality in general I’m sure most people know the difference between AMOLED’s and LCD IPS displays. It mostly comes down to personal preference. AMOLED’s have much better contrast ratio, deeper blacks and less power consumption, but on the other hand LCD IPS displays have much better brightness and generally clearer displays due to the pixel layout (RGB square layout compared to a pentile matrix).

I myself did not like the screen on the S3 because of the pentile matrix, but the S4 has a much improved pixel layout and obviously the higher pixel density makes it much better than the previous generation.

Dang, how long have you had that for?

The screen on the new phone I got is super bright - I'm running it at 10% and the brightness is perfect for me.

So, anyone know how to get a playlist that I have on VLC to my phone without doing it manually?

I've been trying to find a solution with no avail. Getting a playlist of 500 songs from my computer onto this device is worse than having to use iTunes.
