Just when I was just 1 month from the moment I could afford a 300mW (Herc/RPL), my digital SLR camera failed and seems to be beyond repair (and its out of warranty) :'(

I absolutely need this camera so I must spend my saved money on a new one instead of the laser.

I'm afraid I'll have to wait till next spring before I can buy my 300mW now.

good thing you were saving for a laser though, because at least now you have the money set aside and your not really out anything. although that is pretty sad :'( hope you earn some moola soon

It's a Canon EOS D10 and its completely dead (i've tried several batteries and CF cards but no results)

It should be possible to repair but that will be so expensive that it is not worth the money for this (relatively) old camera.

I'm gonna buy an EOS D40 now. (which is an impovement).
And I start saving all over again.

Solar, unless someone else on here has exparience with repairing digital cameras, I'll offer to give it a shot. I have only worked on 3 digital cams, but so far all three are still running. I've been playing with electronics for 2/3 of my life, so I've worked on a LOT of different things.
I'm calling anyone on here who has experience working on digital cameras to offer, but if not ship it to me and I'll see what I can do. gratis of course.

What a top bloke you are a_pyro_is ;) I'd take the offer solar seeing as pyro is so kind to offer :cool:
This is what sets the LPF apart from any other forum I've known, the sheer genuine generosity of fellow members towards one another :)

I appreciate your offer, thanks a lot ;)

But a friend of mine had also offered me to give it a try, he also has experience with repairing and modifying digital camara's.
I will pay him a visit next weekend.

I'll keep you informed.

My friend tried to repair the camera and it worked for a while, but it's very unstable and powers down randomly. (but if I manage the make a picture its perfectly fine) still, its pretty useless

He has bought it from me so he can use it for parts (especially the sensor which seems to be intact)
So I need to buy a new one after all.

I have to start saving again for my new laser. :'(

I'm sorry to hear that he couldn't fix it. I hope you're able to find a really good deal on a new one.
