Interesting 3D, wondering though, it's made out of plastic and suppose to be for metal. Will it hold up under repeated use? Will be interesting to see it in use. Best wishes with your project.

Well...Some things can be made from plastic...to work on metal....a Lathe...no matter how small...cannot !!! I machine...and for sure...Plastic is a NoGo !!I always want bigger, increased rigidity equipment....all it takes is $$$$$.

Even if it were to machine "something" i'm assuming on the mocked up spindle chuck he using the big screw's to hold the stock..How would it spin? They would hit the the whole thing..
I have to admit though flaws and all it is kinda cool..

Hi,
I guess if you adapt a hamster wheel and a good rubber band to the spindle and shorten the screws it would turn. Thats what i would do just for fun.

Just because you can 3D print something in plastic
does not make it viable solution...

Rich... With your drive mechanism modifications I
can see it perhaps machining a banana...

But it will need to be completely peeled.... IMO :D

With 3Dlaserbuilder common sense real world is considered little, if at all.

The entire thing is a low quality bad design piece of daydreamed dysfunctional junk.
At best it is artwork-- not a mini-lathe.

Maybe could be use to "machine" hard cheese like Parmigiano-Reggiano but probably not accurate or stable enough for even that. lol

Exactly---- is a brain damaged low quality joke not a mini lathe.

Maybe it could be a "Ronco Peel-O-Matic", ....anybody remember those old Ronco TV commercials for Ron Popeil's Ronco "...... O-Matic" gadgets?

might be useful for soft plastic milling, maybe.

Here is a much more credible 3D printed mini-lathe for plastics https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1003137

Yes. Ron Popeil, entrepreneur extraordinaire

Maybe it could be adapted for use with the Ronco/Popeil Automatic Pasta Maker or one of the Showtime Rotisseries
