it was a 10s exposure with 50mm 1.8 wide open(hence the blue CA).
Taken at Hanle Ladakh. Its 14000ft above sea level, and no light pollution!

WOw!! As an amateur photographer, I have to say you've got a keen eye.
You using a full frame DSLR ? Canon 5D MK II/ III or similar ?
Wide angle lens.

That is incredible, seriously want to get into photography. I have a zhummel 12" Dobsonian. Am i correct in thinking that reflectors are the worst for photography?

Depends on what you're photographing. For galaxies and nebula a reflector is best due to its light gathering abilities. The problem with a dobsonian is that you can't take long exposure photography without the image rotating. You really need an equatorial mount for that. I could be wrong on all this with the digital photography stuff, I'm speaking from an emulsion film perspective. I use to spend at least an hour making sure my scope was perfectly polar aligned, if not during long exposures the image would appear to have rotated, one side of the photo would look good and star trails on the other side. It was always very frustrating but the results were worth it.

Correct!
EQ mount or any kind of Autoguider is definitely needed. For wide angle astro, you can go for cheap mounts. As you get to 100mm or so, you need something like Vixen Polarie if you want to do serious astrophotography.
However, if you need to use a telescope, you need to invest 400-600$ in an autoguider setup.
I am thinking about the Vixen Polarie when I have some funds.
