As the drones are unmanned you can zap them with our lasers. No humans will be harmed :D

Why the surprise?

Just about every single version of the future includes small aircraft floating about monitoring everything.

I agree 100% that it's f*cked up though.

Pretty sure as an evolution of healthcare we're also going to see implants that monitor basic vital signs, in addition to little things like say whether you smoked an illegal bit of grass.

What's truly scary to me is that it's only a matter of time until fairly reliable thought monitoring tech is around. If it isn't already:tinfoil:

Memory scanning will be a bit further down the road, but not much.

For the most part I love technology, but one enormous downside of it, is that the more reliant we become on technology in everyday life, the less control we can maintain.

I always knew, but didnt think it would come so fast.

My biggest gripe is its all hackable. New tech makes it easy to help people, but on the same hand it can be easily turned around for the negative.

Unfortunately as just about every single company and government is discovering, there is no such thing as a truly secure, internet accessible, network. And that is scary.

I'm sure you read about stuxnet and Iran... fact is a lot of traditional infrastructure equipment is now monitored and maintained remotely. As such it's also very vulnerable. We're not talking about someone finding out your financial history or grabbing your credit card information either... rather things like affecting dam floodgates, sewer, water and gas pipelines, basically the power infrastructure. To me this is truly scary.

The only way to keep data safe is to keep it physically isolated. Unfortunately that runs completely counter to to the whole premise of inter-connectivity and resultant productivity, and even then you run into human element problem.

Precluding a global market crash in combination with a major natural disaster, I don't see any other way that technology/privacy/surveillance can progress unfortunately.

Ha... nice. Wasn't 100% sure, it's been a while since I've watched that trilogy. Wrote a paper in college on matrix/kant, haven't really watched the movies since, except when the last one came out.

Personally I'm not a fan of ANY of the candidates we have, but I do find myself often agreeing with much of what he says. Scary considering I think of myself as a left leaning independent.

You didnt read the link or watch the video. Obama signed it in, and Miami already has one. The government is going to fund the whole thing.
