I know that this is a Laser Pointer Forum, and lasers will always be one of my favorite hobbies. But I'm leaving lasers for a while. :'(

In a previous thread I asked which R/C I should get an HPI Savage Flux or a Traxxas E-Revo Brushless Editon. Either way I would have ended up spending about a grand after buying the expensive batteries.

But for the same price ..............

I had to!

Bye for a while

Yeah they are so much fun to drive!! I don't think I'm gonna put lasers on it but I will make some custom CREE Led Headlights for it. DX is good for that.

AWESOMENESS you dont have to worry about dirt ruining your cylinders, but now you have to watch out for puddles! I destroyed my Mamba 25 last weekend crashing my truck into my dogs water bowl. :(

Really!?!? LOL! That sucks!
Yeah that's what sucks about the speed controllers on brushless. You cant even balloon them or they will overheat.

But actually the Baja is pretty water resistant. All the HPI servos are water resistant, and the receiver is in a sealed box on the body. It should come Tues. FedEx is off on weekends. :'(

I'm so stoked I can't wait!

I know that. :p

I was wondering why he wanted an electric monster truck when the nitro versions are so much cheaper.

Nitro is awesome. I would know, I have had my Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec since 2002. It's got the old skool .15 engine. Anyways, don't automatically assume that nitro is better than electric. With a good brushless motor and lipo packs electric can smoke nitro. My buddy has a Losi Nitro 1/8 scale buggy that he converted to electric. It has a Mamba Max 2200kv motor and 5S lipo and it drives faster than my 4-tec on grass!

My beef with nitro is that they can be a pain to maintain sometimes. The motor tuning is very sensitive and they often have many more moving parts than electric. Nitro engines only last a few gallons of fuel too. Bare in mind that is alot, but electrics often last longer. Electric is also easier due to the fact that you just have to charge your packs and turn it on any your off! Don't get me wrong nitro is cool! Traxxas's EZ Start system makes starting a nitro engine very easy. :)

However, I did have a very good budget for a new R/C and decided to go all out. My Baja 5B is the most expensive hobby I own now next to my beloved Gibson X-plorer w/ dual DiMarzio pickups.

What people need to realize is that 1/5th scale gas R/C cars are about the same in price as a brushless with LiPo. HPI designed the Baja to be very tough! With the exception of a few highly recommended parts a stock Baja is badass!!!

If you wanna draw a crowd every time your drive your R/C, go for the Baja! Hobby People has got the 5B for 8 bills now! I will admit is is more maintenance than an electric R/C but not as much as nitro I think. Other than the fact that it is a pain to clean you really don't need to take it apart except to oil and grease the drivetrain a diff every once in a while. But if your anything like me, you love taking things apart! ::)

The car is massive! It weighs about 30 pounds and can get up to 40mph stock! Even more with a higher gearing. Anyways, enough talk. If pictures are worth a thousand words then here are 14,000 words.

My god that looks cool. I remember building my electric R/C car, that was great fun and I had heaps of fun playing with it.

But nitro man, nitro  That's the way.

is that the piston wall you can see there? i see some nice machine rings in it lol
give it some love the first few tanks

someone mentioned a nitro 4tec... i want a new one so bad. maybe they will do a brushless one again with their new motors?

strap some lazors on it and drive around in a circle at night till the smoke from the exhaust shows the beam! that would look awesome

Yes that is the piston itself looking through the exhaust port.

I have a Nitro 4-Tec, it's the best nitro street car you can buy.
