It certainly didn't look too scared in that video. It looked like it was ready to fight that cat. Looks like a big rat.

I like them already

They look scary, but in reality are not. I ran into them a lot when I had a dog, and took late night walks. Most of the time they will just run away. Sometimes hiss. Never actually saw one play dead.

Never had one be aggressive to me or my dog either. They are really good for the environment.

I think nature got a bit screwy, and our was supposed to go to Australia along with all of their other insane critters. (Seriously, have you ever seen a cassowary? I would never want to meet one outside of a zoo.)

About armadillos, not all types can even carry leprosy, and 95% of people are immune to the disease. So they really don't deserve anytime of special treatment in terms of being scary disease carriers. If you do happen to eat, lick, or get bitten by one, probably best to take a course of antibiotics, but aside from that that, just washing hands, and a series of showers after are more than enough. Personally as pests go, I'm way more concerned with fleas, ticks, and bed bugs. Not to mention mosquitoes.

Yeah, especially the mosquitoes, those (indirectly) kill more humans than any other animal, millions a year globally.

As for the cat vs the possum thing: i think the video might be the exception. Domestic cats are cute and all, but not really fierce predators at all. You can easily find plenty of videos of domestic cats losing fights or avoiding confrontation with anything from a possum, rat, pigeon or seagull.

I guess it's for good reason though, something like a rat may seem easy prey for a cat, but when those go into beserk mode they could even kill a human.

My reason for mentioning armadillos caring leprosy was not to say this is the worst thing that can happen to you. I read in a medical journal this decade that a kid in the south had contracted the disease by kicking a dead armadillo. When was the last time you heard about anyone with leprosy? It doesn't happen a lot and armadillos are carriers. It isn't an easy disease to contract, but it grows so slowly in people that by the time you figure it out, the damage to your nervous system has been done.

Any animal that is protective will be fierce, a good cat will protect its owner from anything even a dog.

have seen a few kept as pets in my time in Florida.

they (armidillos) do not have many/any relatives here in Tx nor does the only Marsupual (NONE) as far as I know.
