yep. it makes 2 parts hydrogen and 1 part oxygen. it draws agout 90 amps from my 12 volt deep cycle battery.

Thaught electrolysis requierd higher current...
Why does it make 2 parts hydrogen?

remember water is h20 NOT ho2. thats why it splits it into 2 parts hydrogen and just one part oxygen. also, 90 amps is a lot for that small of a cell. its rather unefficent. it boils the water very quickly.

Yea but doesnt the H atoms turn into H[sub]2[/sub] the moment they separate from the H[sub]2[/sub]O molecule?

hears the reaction 2h[sub]2[/sub]o yields 2h[sub]2[/sub] + o[sub]2[/sub]

O[sub]2[/sub], doooh...I knew that...i forgot oxygen also comes in molecules :p I'm sorry it was 8:00 am in the morning over here and I haven't slept all night....It's 10 am now and I still haven't slept.....I'll probably stay up the whole day again....

Jumper cables outta hold for a while !! Good idea ! I used to do that as a kid with little current -- Took a long time to get some gas !

gotta love jumper cables. i got them for free, so lucky me :) :) :) :)

when i was younger i would use a 9 volt battery and a few wires in salt water. i thought that was cool. now look what i have now. :D :D :D

Can I see your setup there? I have a MOT putting out around ~10 volts, and I'm only topping at around 5-6 amps tops.

I personally liked the CuSO[sub]4[/sub](or whatever it was) electrolysis.I would stick coins in my bowl and copper would stick to them and they became copper coated , that was a lot of fun :p No high voltage or current or anything though...

I've done this before by accident lol. I was doing an electrolysis experiment and I had 2 iron bars in a closed plastic container full of salt water. Basically the Iron rusts at a highly accelerated rate and rots away in days.

I was moving the container while it was hooked up to the power source and the 2 bars connected and sparked. Boom! Filthy salt water full of rust on everything in the room in a 5 foot radius.

That's nasty!!But you could use that to rust away prison bars if you get caught shining your laser in the sky :D
