I was KINDA hoping that I was far enough from Florida for no hurricanes to find me - damnit was I WRONG ! We just had 10+ inches..closer to 13" according to the news from the last tropical storm...I have seen plenty of rain dangint....I am REALLY hoping that this latest incarnation of fury just sorta fizzles out somehow, and stops growing :( Damn, after 20 years in Florida - the last few years were teh worst ever - and I saw MUCH more damage than I wanted to ! I have been to jamaica in the late 80's (showing my age) and that place will be wiped out, and have to start from scratch if it gets clobbered - nothing is really too sturdy there.

Eh - the U.S. is closer for them, mate - no worries there I think ! I just hope that the damage is not too extensive - these storms are nasty (understatement of the YEAR !)

well these days few people die in the storms themselves. Most people get hurt in the aftermath and cleanup.

it's looking like jamaica might be spared the worst as the core of the hurricane is still to the south of the island. the bad part is that puts the northwest quadrant right into kingston. because of the mountains eddys are going to form so monetgo could be looking at tornados.
