Bshanahan your close (no one was ever going to get it..) I'm going to give it to you it's an old school sharpie, construction workers would dip it in black ink and mark pieces of timber with the fine tip at the end.

girly girls have lotsa sharpies. Like, the type of girls who like to make signs for no reason. Most normal people just use them to mark stuff or to sniff

Can you specify what it is used to interface to? A clue, it is generally only a temporary connection

Maybe those racks of lines in like a utility closet where the individual line are pushed into these little metal clip things. Maybe to plug directly into that?
