Does it count the revolutions of the axis running in the middle?
I'm not sure what the display-looking thing is, could also be a type number or something...

No a count the revolutions, but is a small transparent window to see a counter

Too old for be a display, probably just a painted tag.

It look almost as an electromagnetic brake, for me.

Really is a small transparent window

No a electromagnetic brake

or an in-line fuel filter

No a in-line fuel filter

Rotary encoder?

No a Rotary encoder

Ok, I admit that maybe it's something quite hard to find I am going to help a little.

He has over 60 years

It is a separate piece, but was used in conjunction with other

And I put a photo inside

Is it one of those funky synchro-motors?
There would be 2 similar units, one a Master that gets turned and sends a signal to the Slave which then turns at equal rate/force...

They used to use them in radar units and such...

Is not any kind of motor :yh:

The answer to my game that was not completed is a: High Temperature Oxygen Sensor

This is a hen de-egger. You put these under each hen's roost, and it counts the daily production of eggs. The egg slides down the central tube where the air pressure pushes an actuator that moves that lever arm and allows the counter wheel to rotate one step.

Nowdays, we just have little gnomes who catch the eggs as they come out. Since we've taught them math, they can also count AND add!

Part of that mechanism resemble an electromechanical timer (the electromagnet act the "hook" that, apparently, unlock that wheel on top at intervals, and the other wheel looks as a "reserver charge indicator" or "steps indicator", or similar, and the cam at the top seem acting a contact), but the rest is still tricking me ..... civil or militar use ?

Is for militar use ;)

Hint: but is not a timer, that part is only a programmable counter ;)

Electrical detonator acted from rotating part ?

(like, as example, those detonators for bombs that was acted from a little fan, that arm the bomb only after some time it's falling ?)

Yes, is a detonatorr, you're very close, but not triggered by any fan, or other mechanical systems, thinks otherwise ;)

To help, was used at the sea ;)

I have to be away from home now, and how you've approached a lot I take it for good :)

Is a magnetic flux-deviation detector, with integrated events counter, deployed in a German naval for (magnetic) mine, 1939-1945

When a ship, representing a metal body, is passing not too far from the two metal poles (rods) of this device, its magnetic equilibrium (balance) is becoming disturbed and the system is being triggered.

the counter is to know how many times the mechanism was activated, and at the same time served to set (preset) a precise number to blow the mine

Your turn

Also could part of the game of "mouse trap" sent back in time from a future race determined to keep human's busy while they enslave us all.

No, sorry :p

Another help: almost all the homes in the world have one of them (also if, usually, they are not so complex) ;)

EDIT: oh, i feel good, this morning, so can also say you that this is NOT one of these machines built without any practical purpose ..... it do something practical.

And also, as you can see, the first pic is a 3D rendered model for study, where instead the other 2 pics are from the real build, so is not just a project, it was built in the reality.
