May also be ..... a pinion or shaft of some type, a press-fit axle for a gear ..... but without dimensions, it's hard to guess correctly.

Nope, i've sold you all a dummy

It's NOTHING to do with mechanics, its a standalone device.

EDIT, its 16" long and about 3" diameter at its widest part.

it's not a real laser beam. It is a picture obtained with a vector graphic program and ended with photoshop (I'm not the author)
