I got a second hand function generator (Rigol DG1022) off of ebay, and it arrived with some damage that was not mentioned in the description :(

It's got this weird distortion on the display, like so

and it is still sort of visible when the display is off.

Does anyone know what this is, how it occurred, and is there a fix for it? I've never seen anything like it before.
Are there replacement LCD's available for the Rigol DG1022 function generators?

Yes, I did the same thing with my Kenometer LCD, and high power 405...it looked EXACTLY like that.

Yep, it's external damage. Note how the resolution of the damage is finer than the pixelation of the display.

Yeah I also thought of laser damage. I'm not really sure what LCD rigol uses but if you take it apart, you can find out. If it is a custom LCD, then you could try asking rigol for a replacement part.

I posted this on another forum. A user there said it could also occur from low temperatures, and I wouldn't be surprised if Canada post left it out in the freezing cold for a while. Would also explain why the damage wasn't listed on the posting if it happened during shipping.

I'll open it up and see if I can find a P/N on the LCD. Doesn't look like anything standard though :undecided:
