Ok, i got an hd tv at xmas or so and i was wondering if i could get some FTA channels with my old antenna, by buying a new decoder and moving it..

do you guys know anyhting about it?

(Located in montreal, the sat is pointing a dead sat (its old bell satelite, nagra3 or something like that.)

Do you mean an OTA (over the air) antenna?
I'm sure it's the same in Canada as it is in the U.S., all the OTA stations are transmitted in HD so you will not need any kind of a decoder.
The only reason you would need a decoder is to convert HD to analog.

He is talking about Bell Express View Satelite TV.
If you buy a true FTA STB you can get a few Free To Air channels
most are Info Channels on BEV.
For True FTA signal you need to aim at another Salellite and you will
need a 30"-36" Dish antenna.. You can get about 50-60 FTA channels
Mostly foreign language and info...
