yeah, i know this kind of thread has been already created

but all of them were "WUT IS DA BEST FLASHLIGHT?!?"

i need help with deciding which one to buy

i'm looking around DX because they're the cheapest alternative

i'm willing to spend up to 21.00 dollars (not including batteries & charger)

i want a solid flashlight that has a really bright output (no complications like a faulty switch, bad screws, etc.)

i believe "throw" is how much the beam is focused, then yeah, i want more throw than "spill" (is spill what you call the remaining light around the beam?) because i need it for camping (15 days living in a tent :D).

runtime doesn't matter A LOT but naturally i dont want it to run for only 20 minutes :)

so, what would you suggest buying?

i do not want to buy a flashlight which I should then mod with a Q5 LED emitter or something

i appreciate the help :)

PS: if you have modded (a GOOD, working mod) a flashlight and are willing to sell it to me for a reasonable price then include it in your suggestions ;)!

I've got one of these. The "dot" is really tight within 20ft or so but there is some minor spill.

do you know which batteries it'd be better to use with that?

I use protected CR123 batteries. Performance shouldn't be too bad with 18650s but I've never personally tried them...
