Is there anyone else who wants to troll the troll? Get it out now please so we can all move forward.

For every action there is a reaction.
You troll, you get trolled back, you troll again.

Tj you and I have never had issues. Believe me, I dont ever want to get on your bad side. But you do get away with allot around here. Maybe you earned it, ''the right to get away with more'' because of your time here?
Maybe you dont get away with any more then then next guy?
However it sure seems like it, because you openly confess to being the LPF forum troll.

Also
It's unfair that so much drama goes on behind the scenes here at LPF. It sucks because, while we do try and put trust in our Moderators that they are being fair and just. It's difficult because there is such a lack of transparency.
Decisions are made sometimes almost entirely on drama that happend in PM's out of public view.

Also of late, it seems that a vast majority of these bans are over childish teasing and name calling that happens entirely in pm's. People need to grow up and stop complaining. Unless someone threatens another member, uses racial or religious epithets in pm's That is when a instaban is called for.
I sure hope people are not being banned for calling someone a poopoo head?

Maybe we need a new section on LPF? One that is only partial moderated, This would let people work things out in the open for all to see.

Maybe if every thing is out in the open members might choose to let some battles go. Maybe they wii find that it's more embarrassing to make a stink about how some someone hurt their feelings over simple teasing.

You have more faith in human nature than I do ;)

This is psychology and sociology, not physics

The reaction is usually opposite, but it is rarely equal

You're right. But I'm also a heartfelt, honest individual that will help people at the drop of the hat. Even people I dislike. I was brought up a ball buster. Everyone I know, including my family are ball busters. Its my personality. This does not make me a bad person.

I just got an anonymous PM telling me Jeff was PMing people to gather against me. This I consider way worst than any trolling I do.

So which is worse, ball busting or backstabbing? You can make up your own mind to what is more acceptable.

Wow... Looks like some people need to go read those forum rules about giving rep out:whistle: Im sorry, but if you let anyone on the internet get to you and force you to troll. You got some deep down personal issues to work out. TJ, this forum would be even worse if it were 99% females, they like to back stab the most. I understand we want to stop the trolling, so why is this thread tagged Jeff the poopoo head?

I'm just going to side-topic a little because this really caught my attention and is worth pointing out. While I understand racial slurs should not be tolerated along with other characteristics one can't change (height, race, etc.), what's the problem with religious ridicule? It's an ideology, just like political affliation, or outlook on life, and NOT a natural characteristic.

When we make fun of one's political affiliation it's fine, but when it's religion, it's not? Excuse me, but religion has no "special rights" here. You are NOT born with a religion, you CHOOSE your religion, just as you CHOOSE your political affiliation.

It really bothered me some years back, when the Muslim community went nuts over the NY Times' ridicule of Allah in some cartoon drawing. Furthermore, it disgusts me that we are allowed to label our kids "Christian", "Muslim", etc. before they even have a chance to decide for themselves. What's so special about religion that they are allowed to label small children Catholic, Protestant or Muslim? Nobody would categorize children by the political party their parents support, call them Tory or Democrat children. We agree they're too young to know where they stand on questions of politics. So why is not the same for questions of the cosmos and humanity's place in it? I digress but you see my point, I would be absolutely disgusted if someone gets banned for religious ridicule, that's why I brought it up. And if such a thing would ever happen, then political ridicule should also be banned, as well as countless other ideologies of humanity.

/rant ended

Now, on to the topic at hand. I say, we all have a meeting sometime this summer and set up a laser show or some kind of laser fair where we could set up shop or show off our lasers at towncenter. We could meet one another as I really want to see and chill with many of y'all! Perhaps go for a nice buffet dinner after :D

This would really be nice, I'm sure it would help many of us here get along better :)

LOOL. That is actually pretty funny. I can just imagine everyone's entrances:

Jeff speeding in in his quad... TJ stomping into the place in his Nazi uniform... Dave sliding down a chimney in his Santa suit... You riding in with your Harley... offroadfreak arriving with his kitties... rhd nonchalantly walking in in his business suit... Lazeerer coming off a bus looking like an ordinary nice guy but with a backpack full of crazy handheld lasers...

Oh man... blame the childhood cartoons.

The mods cannot be everywhere

This is true, especially when we're secretly monitoring you all and your daily lives to build up our database of information on LPF members.

On a slightly more serious note (Not saying I wasn't serious before ;) ), back almost 5 years ago when I first signed up to this forum, it was possible to read every new thread and post within about 2 hours.

About 3 years ago the forum was torn apart pretty badly from an issue most of you will be familiar with. During that time, there was a real uncertainty as to whether the forum would go on. Never would I have imagined it would become as big as it is today. The reason being? People like this forum for what it is.

I can guarantee if you had drama like this over on Photonlexicon, 3/4 of the forum would have been banned by now.

We mods are human too, we don't like banning people just as much as you guys don't like seeing people banned, we respect that people are running businesses here, and have put a lot of time into building themselves up to reputable members. Infact our email discussions are usually a battle of pros and cons, we really would prefer if we didn't have to ban genuine members.

However, there comes a point where things start getting way out of control, and eventually someone needs to step in and put an end to it. If not, people start taking sides with members, and eventually the entire forum ends up split in half. Photonlexicon is a GREAT example of this, Pangolin vs everything else. It's already starting to happen here, and it needs to stop.

We have been MORE than lenient with MANY members, vets especially. It is very rare for a vet to be permanently banned, because we hope that maybe they'll be mature enough to learn their lesson the first time. Unfortunately this doesn't work with some people, and so they just keep getting themselves banned over and over.

I'm not going to name anyone here, but many members have had OVER 5 chances now, because we believe that they are a value to the forum. Try getting 5 chances on any other forum.

Contrary to what some people here may believe, moderators can NOT read private messages. If we ban someone from fighting via private message, it is because that message has been reported to us manually by involved parties. Because of this, getting the full story is not often possible, so we have to try and make the best decision we can based on the info we were given. Because of that, we've always been happy to discuss with people the reason for the ban, and give them a chance to explain their side of the story. Generally, this won't get your ban lifted or shortened unless there was a misunderstanding, however if issues do arise again later (Like this scenario), we have the full background.

The easiest thing to do is just report the post/PM/rep to us, and don't reply. The second you reply to them, you become involved in the situation, and are just as eligible for a ban as they are. Simple as that.

Although I am new here, I would like to add that I have some experience (watching from the sidelines) of forum drama.

I am a member of another forum (unrelated to lasers) that is home to A LOT of trolling, backstabbing, arguments etc etc...

To my knowledge, people don't get banned (not alot of mods), and threads aren't deleted (not to say they shouldn't be). The typical thing people do on that forum is let the two fighters "duke it out" verbally, until both are exhausted of it all and move on... It is also generally followed that if you are not personally involved in whatever drama is going on that you DO NOT take sides either way, this helps stop a mob mentality from taking hold.

I'm just trying to point out that the internet is, at it's most basic level, an epic trollfest, but adults eventually get over it
