LOL !! Well, my first day was a WRECK ! I was taking my daughter, and her girlfriend to school (first day of 9th grade - high school, the BIGGIE !) and was supposed to be there at 8am, since I volunteered with the PTA to help pass out maps to the 2300 Freshmen that are attending the school this year. Right outside of the school's entrance, we all saw a baby deer stuck in a barbed wire fence ! It was screaming for help, and since I am a bleading heart animal lover (NOT PETA for certain, but you get the idea !) I pulled over to assist, although we were running late due to traffic. Now, BAD idea from the get-go, as my back was in knots, and killing me - almost taking my breath away from pain as it was this morning due to me attempting yard work yesterday, running the weed-whacker ! Well, the poor thing was wedged in the fence so tight, and struggling, screaming for help so bad that there was no chance to free it - although I REALLY tried pulling the wires apart with my hands to free it. A construction truck lumbered past, and a gentleman jumped out, and brought wire snips with him. We cut the fence to pieces, freeing the fawn (awe !) and then it was time to try to stand up :( Well, I made it to the school - had to withdraw my offer to assist, as I was nearly in tears from being a wuss - I mean from the pain, and left. The fawn had departed by that time, although I had called mergency services regarding the fact that I thought the baby had broken it's own back in the struggle to get free, as it was only crawling on it's front legs when I left it. Emergency services had already dispatched wildlife rescue from a previous caller - I can only hope that the poor little thing is safe and sound now :)

Well, that was long winded way to say, good luck with school all of those that are retuirning today, and I hope your day goes better than mine started out ! :)

Wow...grade schools have been back in session for several weeks here. University started at the beginning of last week.

I remember the good ole' days when school only went from Labor Day til Memorial Day.

What you did to that fawn is very selfless of you SenKat. :)

It's always good to help someone/some animal in need... gives a nice sense of satisfaction :)

Although... very sorry to hear about your back. You should take it easy. :-?

Hope you feel much better soon;

You're pretty lucky that you got to start school today. I had to start High School back on the 17th, now THAT was confusing! The worst feeling is walking into school on the first day knowing you have a whole year ahead of you full of homework, projects, and scary teachers. But you get used to it after a few weeks and then you realize it isn't that bad, and if you get an easy/interesting class it can be fun.

Styro --

I presume that you're signed up for OPTICS 101 ;D You can teach the class.

My old physics teacher in high school (1966) wouldn't teach electricity chapters because I was in the class :( We finally worked together and had a great time. We almost killed all the critters in Biology class next door.

Now THAT'S fun ----
