what's the difference between alcohol 96° and lighter fuel? different evaporation rates?

The ball and thread need to be cotton and you need lighter fluid it looks like kerosene or diesel it is refined petroleum or naptha I think.

Alcohol has a very low boiling point, and it evaporates rapidly. When you add fire (heat) to the mix, it speeds up  the evap even more. Typical lighter fluid found  in the tall yellow bottle (Ronson in Canada) for zippo's is a good one or you could try straight up diesel / stove oil. It will be just harder to light, but much harder to put out.

but it will not burn with a "lower temperature" (sorry i cant REALLY call myself an expert pyro :p), the temperature even on the low part of the ball was too hot to hold..

Bare in mind, the guy in the video has probably been doing that for a while. With the torture my hands have seen, cuts and minor burns dont relly bother me. If you dont have a rough hand it will certainly sting a little more.
Have you tried keeping it moving? This is most likely the less painful approach.

Ok here is what you need. you need to fill up the cotton ball but if you put too much shake it out so it doesn't drip.

ohh, then it is naphtha.
thank you very much for the pics :)

yeah i have really sensitive hands because i treat them really well (aww cmon guys i'm no p***y), the skin on the palm is not hardened but rather very soft so maybe i am feeling the temperature...

Make sure you squeeze out the excess and remember you won't be able to blow it out so if stuff gets out of hand smother it, whatever you do don't step on the burning ball LOL
