Tis pretty awesome :D

I've been to the HUGE airshow they do out in the Nevada desert. They break the sound barrier literally like a hundered times lol and they drop REAL bombs out there too (pretty far away, mind you) it's pretty freakin amazing! :D

yahh theres nothing like hearing the sound barrier being penetrated up close...it is sick!!! i live close to tulahoma which is the air force base that does all the air tunnel testing for the rapter...they opened up airspace in this area for testing a few years ago...lots of sonic booms!!!!not to mention when i lived in coca beach all the shuttle returns...

Sonic booms can certainly be loud - even if they happen at considerable altitude.

On rare occasions fighter jets cross the sonic barrier around these parts, and its always like a sudden clap on thunder on a clear day.

I always wanted to experience one from within the aircraft though. As i understand it actually does little to nothing, which would be an interesting experience as such.
