I've thought VHS has been dead for a long time. It's be at least 4 years since I've seen new movies for sale on VHS.

I like "dead" technologies! I have an MP3 player, but I prefer to use my CD player instead because it has way better sound quality (ultra bass system, or at least that's what it says on the player!).

My favorite game system? N64. My favorite game? Final Fantasy VII (PS1). I still watch movies on the VHS. I mean, I watch DVD's more, but I like VHS too. It's not really dead. Just outdated, which makes it cool in itself.

EPIC WIN. Same here. I have a VHS on the TV in my room, but I don't really watch movies anyway. N64 was awesome... too bad they don't sell the games for it any more. Mine is almost broken though, it randomly freezes, every few minutes-few hours. My friend doesn't get why OOT is so good, and I want to lend my system to him, but if it freezes up like it does, he will never finish it. :'(

sad thing n64 was too expensive here, only a few friends of mine had it.. games would cost a fortune back then....


i've got a vhs that works
and a cheapo dvd that doesnt work properly :p

I have an N64. It's still kicking, unlike my GameCube. Remember blowing the cartridge then putting it back in? Yeah... those were the days.

Favourite game was Lylat Wars!! And later Super Smash Bros.

the sh*t's that it's only playable with a wii or an xbox....and all i have it a PS One :D

I love technology, but I'm cheap when it comes to it. I still use a Sony 32" SDTV (Has a better picture quality than most $700 HDTV's in it's size) from over 7 years ago. I just got a 19" LCD monitor a month ago to replace my clunky 17" CRT monitor for my new computer. And I still use an 80gb 5200rpm IDE HDD.

If it works, I'm happy with it, when it breaks, I buy the most "future proof" piece of equipment I can.

I love VHSes though, Street Sharks, Megaman, Dragonball Z... Good times.

I have a VCR/DVD combo unit - I use the DVD to watch movies and the VCR to record television programs that I later playback and zip thru the commercials. Sort of a cheap, analog version of a Tivo, in fact, I've been doing that sort of thing years before there were Tivos. I still can't record two programs at once, but luckily most of what I watch is on cable channels and if I miss one show to tape another it will always come on a few hours later.

As long as I can still get a unit with a VCR and tapes, I'll be happy.

I am also a product of the VHS era.... they will be missed :(

Most of the kids on the forum dont even remember when DVD's didn't exist :eek:

Well....even now with the new HD era and massive TV's, a DVD doesn't look too good on screen (for movies)..

how could i live with out a dvd player ;D.i have a old super Nintendo.

I remember when DVD players cost a ton of money and it was rare for people to have them :D I still have my stand alone VCR and about 500 VHS tapes, most of them home videos but still VHS tapes ;D I also have a 8MM tape player for my handycam from years ago and 8mm blank tapes still in the original packaging :eek:

DVD's used to be the absolute SHIZNIT as far as quality goes lol. When they came out everyone was like "omg they own VHS so much... everything is so clear". Then HD came along and destroyed all that.

That being said, I have a pretty decent quality up-converting DVD player, which up-converts to '1080p', and it rivals the quality on some blu-ray movies that I have. Obviously the blu-ray looks a bit better, but to the untrained eye they would be pretty hard to distinguish from each other. This is on a 42" plasma, I'd imagine as the screen size gets bigger, the up-conversion becomes more noticeably different from the real thing.
