I just bought a domain name from godaddy.com, then realized I have no damn clue how to turn it into a website. Again, I got ahead of myself. What do I do now, all I have is the domain name..... :-[ :-/

Do you have a hosting package? If not, hook it up to a hosting package, you will have to wait a day or so for the domain to be transferred to your hosting then.

SmartFTP rules! Seriously it's the only thing I have used but I love it. You can test it out in Internet Explorer by typing ftp://[b]username[/b]:passsword@ftp.yourdomain.com (or .net or whatever) in the adress bar And from there you can see if everything is working if you don't have an ftp program yet.

Ugh, I think I got some kind of free hosting credit with the name. How do I make a website, and upload stuff? Its like I am trying to understand another language reading the damn godaddy site. :(

Ugh, my site is going to be swamped with ads! :mad: This has NOT gone well at all!! My old site from putfile.com was better! :'(

Well, I actually got my site to work :eek: ::).......now for the money question, how do I make a forum? :cool: (don't worry, it's NOT going to be a laser forum ;) )

I think you can buy PHBB2 templates for like 20 bucks-- Just the scripts and stuff to input to your site-- But you can probably find it elsewhere for free.

For a forum your also gonna need a Database of somesort, I use MySQL. And you can download phpBB off their site for free and they have a zillion different styles and mods you can use. If your host has Cpanel click on fantastico and hit install phpBB and that will save you a bunch of time, then you can install styles and mods from there.
