Good for you, I would imagine with all of the bullshit stereotypes and stupid "understandings" of people in your situation it would have been hard to do this :) Anyway, I hope all goes well ESP with your parents just dont make the mistake of making a big deal about it.

@ Kranz

You're pretty young and still have a lot to learn about yourself before "adulthood", IMO it seems a little early to call it. Have you had physical relations with both genders? I do want to tread lightly, no judgment here, just concerned for ya.

Did you know you were straight (assuming you are) at 14?

For your records I'm a married, mid 20's male, who s*xual orientation has been "straight" throughout my life.

The concern is that LPF is far more supporting that RL will be. I'm sure Kranz knows this but I would like to be more cautiously supportive rather than "yeah Kranz petal to the metal". Some things you can't take back.

That's my point. I'm straight too, and I knew it at 14. I don't know why that age would be any different for other ***ual orientations.

In fact, most of the people I've known who are gay say they knew it at or around that age. I think that's normal.

I also think it's silly to suggest that being 14 is too young to call being gay, unless you're willing to concede that at 14, you didn't know you were straight ;)

I do agree with you on one point though - the real world will be more challenging than LPF. This is probably especially true in the US, where I understand there are still lots of people living in the 50s in terms of their beliefs and have lots of cruel / backwards ideas about the subject. I guess there are even still states where gay people can't get married? That's nuts.

No this is not a joke :p

@TheDukeAnumber1

I get exactly what you are saying! I have wanted to think i was straight since forever. I have thought i was bi***ual for 2 years now, and it took two years of "thinking it was too early to call it" for me to realize it isnt going to change. It's is definitely hard to explain if you don't know how it feels to be so confused, and how liberating it feels when you finally figure yourself out and share it as the hard truth.

I just don't think that you, as a solid-straight guy, can really tell me if it is too early for me to call. Then again, you are entitled to your opinion.

Perhaps not in that light, but as someone who has recently gone through his teenage years, perhaps I can. Most teenagers go through "life struggles", one of your's just happens to be your s*xual orientation, and with as volatile as things can be at that age, it's too early to call it. That's my entitled opinion.

Everyone on this forum has went through their teen years, so you're not any better of an information source than the next guy.

Sorry, but that came out as pretty asinine so I couldn't just not say anything on it. I stopped questioning my orientation and knew I was straight before I even turned 12. If you're 14, almost 15, and still can't decide between guys or girls, you are most likely bi. It's really that simple. It may not be easy to accept at first, but it is what it is.

TL;DR: Your opinion is irrelevant because his life is wide open to any possibilities as he is still so young. The only thing that is too early to call is if his soul mate will be a guy or a girl.
