"The Explorers program, a coeducational affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America that began 60 years ago, is training thousands of young people in skills used to confront terrorism, illegal immigration and escalating border violence — an intense ratcheting up of one of the group’s longtime missions to prepare youths for more traditional jobs as police officers and firefighters."

"The training, which leaders say is not intended to be applied outside the simulated Explorer setting, can involve chasing down illegal border crossers as well as more dangerous situations that include facing down terrorists and taking out “active shooters,” like those who bring gunfire and death to college campuses. In a simulation here of a raid on a marijuana field, several Explorers were instructed on how to quiet an obstreperous lookout."

That was EXACTLY my first thought. Exactly.

In fact, let me just quote something from the Wikipedia page:

"After the boy scout movement was banned through German-controlled countries, the HJ appropriated many of its activities, though changed in content and intention. For example, many HJ activities closely resembled military training, with weapons training, assault course circuits and basic tactics. Some cruelty by the older boys toward the younger ones was tolerated and even encouraged, since it was believed this would weed out the unfit and harden the rest."

Stuff like this has been going on for years - my school run CCF and DoE award schemes, which also count towards university application and CVs. I personally disagree with it as a scheme, since it essentially training/recruitment aimed at youths, which is why I chose Design and Tech as my activity instead. Plus, my knees turn to jelly at the mere mention of physical activity...

My mom was in the Hitler Youth. You didnt have a choice unlike Boy Scouts.

It won't be long until that's the case with Boy Scouts.

Over here 60,000 of the public are to be trained to spot terrorists. It's just going to turn into Nazi Germany. The Government also plan to monitor EVERYONE'S phone calls, texts and e-mails. George Orwell wasn't far off with 1984 was he ?

Dude 1984 started way before 1984. In the US the Patriot Act gives the US government permission to do ANYTHING they want. They have always had that power but you could fight it. Now forget it, they own you. With all the spy satellites and electronic surveillance privacy is a thing of the past. And paranoia holds it all together. Frightened sheep stick together and all follow the same path. This strategy has gone back to the Babylon days. People think Nazis were bad. Guess what? They were following the same plans as the Romans on back to the beginning of civilization its self. We have always been controlled by the higher royalties since time began. Were do you think Orwell got the idea? LOL it's old news. They just dont teach you this in school.

Right. If you were a youth, you were a Hitler Youth. Really means nothing, unless they wanted to rise in organization. My aunt and uncle were Nazis, and my grandfather was Hitler's head architect. He help design the Autobahn and 2 of Hitler's houses. My mom though was as far away from a Nazi than you could get. She was more American than most Americans I know.
