Hey, I'm just doing a general survey to see how many Australians are actually out there. Based on what I'm seeing, there's actually quite a few, considering our small population. So lets see just how many :)

So send a reply this way if you are :) Ranting about the new laws is welcome :)

Hey, and say what state you're from, just out of curiosity. I grew up in Tasmania, but I'm currently living in the ACT :)

It's mainly because of all the media attention lasers are getting there. When the paper publishes a story about people stockpiling "deadly lasers" before the upcoming ban it actually encourages more stockpiling by spreading the word about these awesome green lasers that will soon be banned. A lot of people who see those stories will be thinking "cool where can I get one?"

Where I live I haven't seen a story about lasers in the paper ever. I haven't seen anything about them on tv or in the nightly news. Other than the people I have sold them to I haven't seen anyone else with a powerful green laser. I didn't even know laser pointers beyond red existed until I saw a laserglow ad in a popular science magazine.

In lots of cases the media makes the problem worse. When everyone was freaking out about terrorism I remember newspapers and such were talking about the low security of trains and stuff, and releasing schematics of trains and shit... I was just like "WTF? Stop helping the terrorists already!!" ;D

Yer I live in NSW, the government is ridiculous. Now that lasers are getting banned you just hear about more "attacks" on the news.

I'm in WA and hopefully I wont get caught using a laser and being fined $30,000 and 14 years jail. Rediculous laws, rediculous country. :'(

You mean, In most, or ALL cases media makes the problems worse.  The media is the absolute #1 tool of subconscious control to deviate us from the relevant truths by suggestion.  I wouldn't doubt that that article was intentional to actually entice people to get lasers right before the ban so the government actually has something to ban.  It would be especially stupid if the government makes such a huge deal about something miniscule.   The media produces crap, literally, SHIT, and we are the flys who eat it all up.  If there was no shit, then we would have to find something else to eat, like whats REALLY going on in the world.  I'd bet that they will still allow a certain amount of lasers to pass through customs in AU just for that purpose.  I can't wait to see a Australian order a DX 5 or some other cheapy just to see if it passes once the "ban" is in effect.  Drugs are illegal in the US, and I'm sure they could really flush them out if they wanted, it just produces a vast amount crops for our necessary judicial system and more money then harm comes to our government, so I'm sure it's partially regulated/allowed to "leak" through the cracks.

A Law is made for a purpose, to regulate some sort of conflict that doesn't just occur once or twice, but is anticipated to re-occur again and again. There is an expected amount of resistance to all USEFULL laws which is why enforcement is necessary. A law that is never contested is useless, like a empty container never to be filled, a jail with no inmates, a judge with no defendants. Without "criminals", this society will fall.

“Ignorance to the law is no defense”- how many newbies do you thing this Bryon Kaye dude produced by publishing: “turn a 5mW greenie into a 200mW monster, step by step instructions found on the internet”?

In the US, they spend trillions of dollars, years of construction on bettering our jam-packed freeways by adding additional lanes. Carpool lanes to be exact, with 2 or more, sometimes even 3 or more persons, sometimes limited to only during rush hours during the week. The fine is min of $300 if it’s violated. During rush hour, you see many motorcycle cops looking for the people who were tempted to jump into the lane unlawfully. The traffic conditions are just the same, if not worse. The investment of adding carpool lanes to our freeways have little to nothing to do with bettering traffic. It is a business act, like the airplane companies that are now charging for all caring on’s, and the “free” peanuts are no longer free! These are dark times for the entire world when it comes to finances; the rich are becoming very desperate and very worried. The “rich” include governments.

These are just my theories as it makes very simple sense to me and I study human nature, aka physiology. Let me know what you guys think – Peace Ace.

ace82 pretty much hit the nail on the head. guys, stop panicking about these stupid new laws and use your lasers the way you have always done so,that is ,responsibly. only the fuc kwits will be caught.

this is knee-jerk legislation at its best but if you don't shine the things at police choppers then you will be ok lol.

remember.....DON'T PANIC!........
