I make enough to live alone and buy the toys I want. Not even close to rich, or even wealthy, or even 'well off', but I make enough to get by, buy fun toys, have fun, and even put a little away in savings

I'm extremely unlucky, my dad owns a Ferrari repair shop (very small building), with three employees, ( 2 over 70 years, another is in a wheelchair, and the last guy is sorta normal) we pay $5,000 a month on rent and the government is raping us. we make around $50.000 per year almost all of it is paid to taxes or other bills: heat, electricity, parts, etc, and I have 4 other siblings so the food cost is over the top. the only way I can afford laser stuff is from using E-bay, also did I mention my dads business is most likely bankrupting soon and we might loos our house. so yea I'd have to say in a -8 (that's negative eight). :(

I'd say I'm in the red... I make about -$60,000 a year, plus interest ;D

I guess you could say it is an "investment" in my future, though  :p

Hey, if it's what you want, more power to you.

Right now, the school is "paying" me to go to graduate school. Basically, they pay all my tuition and fees, and then give me a stipend on top of that. This year, since they are having to pay non-resident tuition, that totals up to about $55k for the year. Of that, $26k is my stipend, out of which I pay regular income tax, rent, food, textbooks, etc. As it stands now, we're paying off a little residual debt from getting married/moving 2500 miles cross-country/having to pay rent at 2 apartments for 3 months by a weird twist of fate, so we don't have a ton of cash, I'd give us a 3 maybe. But in a few months when that last tiny little bit of debt is gone, it's smooth sailing.

It's funny, next year I get "resident" status, so my tuition goes down, so my "pay" (including tuition/fees paid on my behalf) goes down significantly, but my stipend goes up. So they're paying less for me, but I'm taking more home at the same time. It's kinda weird, but it works for me.

Worked my ass off to finish undergrad with zero debt, and really enjoying the benefits of that right now, especially when grad students here are so handsomely rewarded for their efforts. It makes my wife pretty mad sometimes: I'm still just a student, and most months my take home pay is more than hers is from her full-time job. Work hard in school, kids ;).

It's not REALLY want I want, paying about $60k per year for school. But, unfortunately, unless you join a military program or have someone else paying for it, med school costs money (and a lot of it!). An MD/PhD program is possible, but that takes 7-8 years to complete and I don't even know if you get a stipend for the MD years... so, yeah, I'm stuck. Just gotta make sure I get a good residency specialty after graduation :)

Hey PBD, did you work full-time while completing your undergrad?

Nah.  During the school years, I usually did 15-20 hours a week in a research lab on campus.  During one summer, I had a GREAT industry internship that was full time and paid really well, and the other summers I worked about 30 hours per week in the same lab on campus as during the year.

So that work, plus some scholarships and financial aid (combination need & merit), and I got really lucky with my timing to boot.

My aunt is a rich millionaire with so much gold she looks like Mr.T and she rubs it in our face, but she wont ever give us a penny, so I will never talk to her again, and my moms friend is a millionaire, but he is a drunk A hole and we now hate him (because of some drunk stuff he did). I find that people with more money than they know what to do with makes them into complete ego monsters. (sorry for the sort of angry posts I'm never in a good mood anymore..)

I'm a trillionaire. I just purchased ~200 trillion Zimbabwe dollars. I believe it's only worth ~80 cents USD... It'd be a hell of a return if their economy ever recovered, eh?

Oh yeah? Well I know the guy who invented blue, green, and white LEDs AND invented violet and blue laser diodes! :p

And he's a cool guy. Some rich people can be jerks, just like a lot of poor people are jerks. But by and large, many are very nice, just as poor people can be very nice as well.

My mom makes some good cash and she's not an a-hole :'(

I wouldn't say she's a 'millionaire'.... Although I'm sure with all assets she's worth over a million. Makes mid 6-figures...

Millionaire doesn't mean as much as it used to...

yea I know some pretty bad poor people too and I'm not saying all rich people are bad, just the ones I know, you'd have to know the whole story about it, but that would take up many pages so lets just leave it at that. and yes niko I will be talking to her again... some day ;D ;D ;D

Thanks
Devin.
