A question:

buying a xj-v2 , once extracted, the array diodes , with what can be powered to work all together ?
thus producing a single beam equal to 48W ! :thinking:

You could do what Styropyro did and focus most of the power down to a spot, but as far as a single collimated beam, no one has been able to do that unless fiber combined and good luck with that $$$. You can however knife edge them together as several parallel beams which from a distance might appear as a single beam. If I were going to knife edge them I'd remove the diodes and build them all onto a knife edge platform.

Lasers and laser beams do not work they way you imagine they work except in imaginings

Even if fiber combined they are still parallel beams with small spaces between them, just less noticeable.

Exactly Alaskan ,
I want to do in the same way Styropyro ,forgive me, perhaps I have badly expressed and difficult to understand ! however, 48W even if you do not collimated all 48 are always beastly :drool:

He has a video on YouTube showing his blue diode build using one or more of those diode blocks, not all of the beams were focused to a spot, but most of them were. I'd use his build as a guide, but it has a fixed focal length, you could vary the focus but lots more work. Making a collimated beam from two diodes of the same wavelength which is focused to infinity can only be done with a PBS cube. Knife edging might do close to what you want as a compromise, then take the parallel collimated beams and focus them down to a spot, would be more efficient at producing peak heat than what Styropyro did as the beams would be closer together.

Not how it works, as others have said. You'll have 24x2W beams spaced close together not 1x 48W beam.

Sure you could focus them all to one spot, but you still wouldn't have one beam.

Why do you want to build such a thing? Just to burn things?

Looks like you don't have much experience with lasers. I'd come back to this once you have more experience if you still want to.

Ha, I received the same response when I first joined wanting to do wild things, just take your time, my recommendation from first hand experience is to study this stuff for months before you build or spend money.

And I accept your advice ! I am going to go slowly ! as I usually do with a virgin girl ,seriously, thanks really for the advice , because even if you're not careful ( especially) when it has to do with 48W the loss of an eye or both !

Yes. A single beam from one of those arrays is not something that is feasible for anyone inexperienced. Like others have suggested, go away and do some research. Styropyro is obviously a good one to go and refer to. Just jot down anything he says in his videos, but that was a lot of expense, customised parts and hard work that he put into any one of his death ray builds. It is not something you are going to achieve quickly. Also, I'm guessing the reason why is simply for the fun of it. Messing around with this sort of power is not to be taken lightly. Considering you posted your first build only recently and that was just a 1W 405nm, that is nothing compared to what you want to take on now. Anyway best of luck, but please stay safe. :beer:

Of course you can ! I will do a lot of attention ! I wear goggles and the 1st test I will do it outdoors ! so are safe from bundles of bounce ! or that goes wrong them disconnected from the block one by one, and we do so many pointers from 6+W with a peak of 7.2 W in fact, I had an idea , almost almost there I'm on an Aspire cf Mod with the 510 DTR :drool:
