If you are in Toronto, visit Efstonscience at Dufferin and Lawrence by Yorkdale Mall. You can by pretty much anything, as they supply teachers etc. and the general public of course

Yeah, at a huge markup. IIRC they wanted over $60 for 500g of Potassium nitrate.

Potassium Nitrate is an easy find for cheap if you look in the right places. In my rocketeer days, id get it in the local drugstore, or homemade wine / beer suppliers. Its used for an assortment of things, from population control (good pranks ;D) and for beer and wine as a preservative. You can buy it by the kilo for cheap on ebay even. For a quick find locally, you will always pay more
500g of potassium should be around 5-6$ Canadian in the mom and pop's type drugstores, if they dont have it, they can order it

I've been buying my KNO3 at a farm supply store and purifying it myself. I'm not too comfortable with the idea of asking for Potassium nitrate (for obvious reasons) at my local drug store... As for ebay, I remember hearing that people have had their KNO3 seized at customs and such so it's out of the question for me...

You can always tell them that you have an over anxious dog But if you want pure consumption grade, check out a local wine supplier, they are everywhere, one of them called WineArt and there is many more

Update: To everyone that has inquired, the magnesium has been sent today via snail mail. You should be receiving it within a week or two.
Just a reminder, Magnesium burns extremely hot and is not extinguished easily. If you plan to burn it, do so outside on a nonflammable surface or use a pair of pliers.
Also, don't inhale the fumes from the burning magnesium unless you want MFF. If you start getting dizzy or start getting a metallic taste in your mouth, Stop burning the magnesium and get medical attention.
I am not responsible for any damage/problems you may find yourself in as the result of the use/misuse/abuse.
