Just curious, it's a great hobby and can give you a great sense of accomplishment (without breaking the bank).

I had to take it once in high school because it was either that or home-ec. I'm 130lbs. (120 back then, I believe) It's not for me :)

I used to do it casually for a few years, then following a serious schedule for about 4 months. I have not been able to do it for about 8 moths due to illness but according to my doctor(s) I should be able to start again some time in January, and I will. I love it. It helps my mind relax while keeping me in good shape. The constant progress is both pleasing and a confidence boost and I feel like everything I do becomes easier.

Do you follow any specific plan?

I used to a few months ago, but then I messed up my elbow and had to stop for about two months. Now I'm just doing a few compound exercises before I go to bed (adjustable bench in my room, presses, squats, pulls, etc.). I plan on getting serious with it again around Feb.

@Cyparagon: Trust me, you would love lifting, especially if you're a small guy. Everyone has to start somewhere.

I used to, still have all my equipment, but since I opened the race track some 5 years ago, I have had to bust my ass dragging fire hose, lifting big water pumps, cutting up trees and moving the logs, etc.....

Then when I do get to ride my bike, wrestling with a volatile MX bike to maintain control of it is a real workout.

(I believe that a cardio test was done once, and Motocross was more strenuous to the body than soccer or hockey.)

My other sport is slalom water skiing, another real workout, playing tug of war with a motor boat.

I do wrestling so I like to lift to keep me and shape and have an edge on the competition, I don't lift during the season though because it just wears me down. When I lift I don't really have a routine or anything, I just lift when I have some time to kill and feel like doing a couple exercises.

I do multiple repz with a fork and spoon daily. Plus I do a lot of hip thrusts with the GF. Oh yeah..I walk to the fridge, then couch, then bathroom at least 10 times a day.

in 8th grade I think I might have stunted my growth, but I can't confirm this..
Right now it's my Senior year in high school and I'm only 5'6. Still lifting tho.
For now I canceled my membership at the gym because I'm taking a weight training class at school.
We recently did bench max and bench rep tests.
I weigh 152lbs, and my bench rep was 150lbs 24 times
my bench max was 250lbs. (that's the weight of a baby elephant, yeah!:p)
For my size and weight I feel pretty good about how much I can lift.

I used to- I had a 6-pack working towards 8. Then was the bad part. I got sick. Really sick.

I lost in a month what it took me a year of going 3X a week to the gym to build up. My body cannibalised all my muscle to survive.

After that I gave up thinking what's the point lol.

Yes, I do. Just not as "regularly" as I want to. Something always gets in the way: work schedule, lack-of-sleep schedule, sickness, etc. Even when I had a cheap bench and weights in my basement, something always came up. It always made me mad, too. Because i really truly WANT to work out regularly.

Once I'm finished moving and unpacking, I plan on using my apartment's fitness center REGULARLY. There's no excuse when you live a few hundred feet from a well-equipped gym, and it's included in the rent....
