My right eye has had better days, it was damaged beyond repair in a 1996 car accident. Retinal detachment.

So now I always wear my laser glasses when playing with lasers. Only twice have I not, aimed at a not reflective target, for photographic purposes, with lower powered lasers, such as the argon in my avatar. I dont have the option of not staring into the laser with remaining good eye - it IS my only good eye :p

Yeah, that one sounded a little fishy but I could easily be true.

could easily be true if someone watches a 5 minute video, thinks "cool laser lighter" and builds it without considering the saftey aspects of such a gadget.

Still need a bit of fabrication experience and some electrical know-how. (Or a HELL of a lot of luck  )
I think if you can make a 445 zippo, you have enough brain cells rattling around in the old coconut to be able to deduct:
*A laser that can light solid objects on fire might not be healthy for my eyes*

or have watched enough youtube videos to ascertain that a 500mw laser pointer burns stuff pretty quick, so a 1W one can do even more damage.
