If you want power --- a 50 BMG rifle ----
With M3 ball ammo, 1/2 " holes in 3/4 " steel plate at 400 yards.
This caliber speaks out.
The rifle weighs at 37 Pounds !!

How about .408 chey-tac? Plenty of power there as well, plus a very nice trajectory!

I only know about .408 as it was made in a town near where I used to live-it's a very cool round! One of my friends was shooting at about 1500 yards with it a while back-crazy accuracy! And a girl my age I met in texas owned a .416 sniper rifle as well as a barret in .338 lapua  I smell some money floating around  I'll have to ask her about it when I move.

One of the coolest rounds sniper wise is the .510 Whisper. It's based on a cut down and necked up .338 Lapua case. It's a subsonic and very quiet when suppressed. Even though it's subsonic it loses very little velocity even out to a 1000+ yards. Throws a 750 grain bullet, too. Only has about 2000 ft/lb of energy, but that's more than enough to put down your <insert evil dictator of your choice>. Of course we weren't really there and will deny everything. :D

I don't own any guns yet, but I plan to. I'm really interested in target shooting, don't think I'd ever want to hunt. I've been the the range a few times. Ideally I think I'd want a nice 12 or 15 gauge shotgun for trap. My brother's a police officer, he carrys a Glock-23. I've shot one, very nice weapon, really easy to shoot, great accuracy. I'm also attracted to the impractically powerful guns. I've got a .45 IMI Desert Eagle. I'd probably splurge on the .50AE just because I can. Also the one gun I am certain I will own at some point in my life is the Barrett M82a1. That thing could fell an elephant half a mile away.

The barrett is an awesome rifle, but $8000 is a bit rich for me. I'm looking into buying a .50BMG upper for my ar-15 for around $2000, coupled with a steel lower (about $500-$600). It's bolt action, so you have to load each round, but it's very cool and less than $3k. But that's probably a year away, or more.

I'm currently in the process of acquiring a .50AE desert eagle. I know I know... it's very pointless, will probably stay in my safe for 99% of its life. But a friend of mine has two, and is selling one to me at a very good price.

Hint: My hand is not small... that's just a big ass gun... haha

Forget the 15 gauge (where did you hear of that anyway? I've never even heard if one. I've seen 16 gauge, but never 15), and just get a 12 ga. 12ga will serve you well regardless, the ammo is cheaper, it doesn't kick if you get the right ammo. If you're a full grown adult, there's no downside IMO to a 12ga overt every other gauge.
