I'd say you could max out at about...I don't know...maybe 1/10000 of a second?

Yeah, it's gonna completely destroy it basically.

Re: What can 150mw do to a CCD camera???

CCDs are meant to be very sensitive to light so that it can take a picture and now you want to direct an intense concentrated light into it?  What do you think will happen? Same thing that would happen if I shined it right in your eye...

Its just going to go from working to not working.  I don't see how that will be fun.  If you don't want the camera, donate it to a charity or Niko  ;D

It’s not that I want to destroy a camera. I was just wondering what a laser would do to it. I’ve see many CCDs that can look at direct sunlight without damage. And I know the auto iris closes to attenuate most of that light. But lasers are a little different.
And I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t just go from working to non working. You would probably see some blown pixels or lines in the image.

Re: What can 150mw do to a CCD camera???

It's pretty much broken, my pictures look like Gooeygus's, exept with blue. I don't know what could have happened... Blue scratches just started appearing out of nowhere... Believe me, my picture are WAY worse than Gooeygus's! And for some reason more and more keep fading in... :'(

Edit:

Re: What can 150mw do to a CCD camera???

Light = energy
Energy absorbed = heat
CCD = a computer chip
Heat = bad for computer chips

Ergo, too much light is bad for computer chips.

I imagine what might be happening is that you are annealing the crap out of the spots where the laser beam hits. This heat can activate diffusion (atoms moving within a material). When devices work a certain way purely because atoms are in certain locations, it generally breaks that device when those atoms move to other locations.

Combine already high power density in a laser with the lenses in a camera focusing that light into even tinier spots, and you end up with VERY high power density.

As randomlugia has shown, it kills pixels.

Re: What can 150mw do to a CCD camera???

Umm, I didn't show that. I have no idea why that happened, because I've never shined a laser into it or looked at the sun with it.
