Interesting. They actually cause luminescence in objects similar to how a blu-ray/445nm laser does. I'm rolling down the road at night and all of the orange cones/street signs/road markings light up in neat colors.

It's normal, they emits partly in the UV, and the glass tube can't filter out all the UV part ..... good for suntanning, too :p :D

Just make sure the bulb is DOT approved, used to be a state vehicle inspector in copperas cove TX, some of us are strict about the rules.

I hate HID headlamps but unless its in a truck I dont mind to much, but trucks sit so high it beams me in the eyeball and with HID in my face I cant see since my laser surgery.

makes me want to put my 1k ballast in my car and use my 1kw hps and some optics to shine something right back at them, or at least mirror my car:D

^ mount a pair of disco 10KW xenon searchlights on the top of the car, and shine them back to trucks with too high HIDs ..... they will "probably" understand, then :eg: :eg: :eg:

Two words: Warm up
True lol. I've got a 150W HPS that takes like 15 seconds of warmup before you start getting a decent amount of light from it. Not ideal for rapidly turning on to flashblind people.

lol true, not that I would focus one on anyone but on can dream. Looking directly into the light esp at close range is harsh. I don't want to even think about what a nice parabolic reflector and fresnel lens beaming it in your eye would feel like.
