Archane, I don't want to get into an argument, but I will point out a fact. Nova, Laserglow and Optotronics do test every single laser before they are sent out. So your statement regarding that no other companies test is simply wrong. Also remember the SenTorch? Greg went to extremes to make sure we all received what we had paid for.

Dr.Lava has not worked out any deals to have these lasers tested. He will be testing the lasers himself, and I do commend him for doing so.

I looked at the payment page and is has 2 prices
$385 for standard
and $405 for focusable 2W diode

Could you explain what the focusable and 2W diode implies? Is the laser manufactured differently for the second option with a better diode?

Yes, I received the standard. They offered a focusable laser module option for $20 more and this will have the 2W diode in it. The standard could have a 1.5W or a 2W diode, depending on the crystals, but all of the the $20 more lasers will have the 2W diode.

They do test these lasers before sending them to me, however I felt the need to re-test them, just to make sure before sending them on to you.

I don't like the sound of that....
Generally when I buy something I'd like to know what I'm buy exactly. I guess if I do decide to purchase I'm going to have to get the $405.

Hold on.... didn't you say somewhere they had 1.0 or 1.2 W pumps?

From my current and voltage measurements, the laser diode seemed like it could be a 1-1.2W diode, but you can only tell so much from current measurements. They insist that it is 1.5W, and the 300+mW peak does make it seem that it is higher than 1W, but it could just be from exceptional crystals. Regardless of the pump, the output will be tested.

Re: **** True >200mW 532nm 'Aries' like handheld l

Sorry Gazoo

what I ment was that yes most companies test them but when someone on the forums gets them they test at least 10%-15% lower after only 20sec of run time it looks like, or they bleed IR like a wounded animal (take the Pyro 100 that LarryQ is dealing with for example)

And I know the work Greg did with his, lord only knows the hell he put those things through. But look at the results, he tested the crap out of them, then everyone that got them was happy. Thats all Drlava is trying to do.

Archane,
We are on the same page and now I understand. I did not want any new members to get the wrong impression, for we do know that anyone that has bought a laser from Nova, LaserGlow or Optotronics has always ended up being a happy camper. LarryQ's story is quite different and it has been quite an ordeal for him and he won't really know what he has until after the first of the year when he can get it tested.

Anyway I did not want to hijack this thread or anything.. ;D I know Dr.Lava has a good reputation and I am confident he will see to it everyone is happy just as Greg did.. :)

Re: **** True >200mW 532nm 'Aries' like handheld l

I missed the SenTorch because I didn't join the forums in time so I had to build my own red(which was a Senkat diode and I freaking love the outcome) I don't want to miss this one, I'm actually happy it took this long to get the payment thing going so i'd get paid in time hehe.

I did have a question about the PG-200, you mentioned it has a charger, do the batteries charge in the unit or do you remove them to charge them? I couldn't find any info on this, and I was just curious.

The batteries must be charged externally,

The payment page will be up till at least the 26th, or until 20 units are paid for.
