there are 2 gold rings above the fins...

There is the shutter ring, the focus adjustment ring, and the focus adjustment lock ring. I think the gold looks more 'bling' than cheesy, which is a good thing!

yea, I don't like 'bling', thats why I didn't buy gold. I thought silver looked cool tho, but I ended up buying black anyways...

I got the gold because its out of the ordinary. That, and it adds to the 'dangerous' look of the unit, itself. 2 warning lables, shutter, key and dead mans switch..

My roommate had some people over the other night and I was playing with the cat with my DX 30. One of them sees it and does the usual freak out that a person thats never seen a green laser does, and asks to see it. Despite warning, what do you think was the first thing he did?

Looked inside to see the green light bulb. Never pass a "loaded" laser to the unenlightened.

yea, that happened when I tried to sell my friend a senkat red. I really hate him now... I give him an hour lesson bout the dangers of lasers, then I give it to him and tell him to bring the money tomorrow.

first thing he does: "oo look at me I'm looking into the laser and nothing happened, turns out you were wrong" *amk: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO* "hey wow my left ye is sorta faint....

then he takes off running....

the next day, I catch him, and not only has he hurt himself, and not brought the money, but he had been "playing with the focus" and claimed it didnt burn stuff. he claimed he spent 15 mins straight trying to focus the beam, it got dimmer after a few minutes...

I go home, and he has smashed the diode can in (I have no Idea how) the inside smells "burnt" (Im guessing the LM317T + the diode got REALLY hot (this was a box laser)) and the laser is so distorted, its scary...

no more selling lasers to "friends"....

I have my msn tied into xbox live so whenever im on either i can talk to them. Havent talked to them in a while though.
Any idea what kind of shipping they are using i hope its not the super slow kind.
