I'm not sure yet how I am going to measure the VLT, I do not own a VLT measuring device, and do not see the point in spending $300 to buy one. I'll ask around my college and see if we don't have on on campus. Cops sometimes have these, but most use simple handheld comparison charts.

what OD are these goggles? I have two pairs of approx OD6 and would really like to get some around OD3 which should still be safe but allow seeing more that a tiny spot.

that is correct, all are OD4, except the infrareds, which are OD2-3

As I post before, I'm in for 1 808nm IR glasses.
But before I decide to put my money, I need more info, for example:
- What is the color of glasses?
- What is their visible light transmissivity (Whether it will attenuate the beam just enough without blocking it completely)
- What is the OD (I need this info to know whether it be sufficient to block stray/scattered IR from 1W diode)
- Is there any way I can see what the glasses will look like?

yes. I've been waiting since monday night for the manufacturer to send me non-photoshoped photos, like from a normal digital camera. I'll also ask for the VLT later today.


OD for 808nm is 2.0~2.2
all others are OD4 including the 1064nm


Working with the chinese is evidently a really slow process with the language barrier.

based on the last response I recieved from them, it looks like they don't know the VLT %, so I sent them another email explaining how we use the VLT for glasses as car tint.

But until they respond, the "VLT" according to them is the same information as the OD rating at the wavelength.

yes, but they still can't give me a VLT measurement, seems they just don't know what it is and/or never measured for it...

I ordered them anyhow friday, the important specs are the OD and wavelengths, not necessarily the VLT. So factor in Chinese shipping and customs, etc, I would give em a couple weeks at max before i get them and can send them out.
