Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

Only 4 amps? That sounds real nice, Mike! Then I might be able to play around with my first 9,7A PowerSupply (should be here soon) before I get the second one that I intend to parallell. Let's just hope there is enough current to actually ionize the gas.

Lynn --
I'm machining the parts to mount my tube in a 2" PVC pipe -- Getting near done.  Good luck on the transistor.

Also, it sometimes has to be pushed to 6 or 7 amps to start.  After that, mine starts and runs at ~ 4 amps minimum.  Remember my comments above about low power  and my fix for that.

It's in the pipe and works but all there is to see now is a pipe with coax coming out. I used a 20" piece and machined mounts to fit the inside curve. Now to mount the PS underneath --- then the cells......

The scientech sensors have one side of the TEC "glued" to the mass heat sink. The other ceramic side is ceramic coated with a "special" high temp flat black coating. No copper stuff. I can wipe the burned coating off with solvent and spray more stuff on it.

I will have to machine the fins on the heatsink to comnform with the pipe so the power supply isn't too deep. I also have to build the battery holders for 8x 18650 cells to mount on both sides.

Chris ---

What's the problem with the 2 Watt tubes? Low on gas? Can they be re-gassed?? Might be fun to try.

Re: OUTRIGHT BUY! 15W RF EXCITED CO2 BURNING LASER

I just happen to have a tank of "Crazy Mike's CO2 gas mix"  I made it years ago with He, N2 and CO2.    It might still work !!

Mike

I think that a few of us have gone beyond the GB here. I'm opening a thread in the "other color" forum here for discussion of operation and fixes.
Chris still has stuff to sell and we just clutter it for him.
