If this ever takes off as a group buy, let me know. I was thinking they were $800.00 for 8 diodes, though.

It's like a owning a fast car. You don't have to go full throttle all the time, but it's nice to know you can. Plus if you aren't pushing it to maximum amps it should last a lot longer than a lower powered diode running at peak power.
I'm not really into burning stuff but it's nice to see an impressive beam in the night sky.

They were 799 and techhood had 3 for sale, I almost bought 2 of them but I wanted to know I wouldn't get stuck holding more than I wanted for now, and about the time I was going to grab 1 the price jumped.

The fact is we have not tested these and they may not be what we hope, I will wait for the price to drop so I can get 1 or 2 and test before I get a block, otherwise I may do something with a different block, I was thinking of doing a HH quad even.

I really wasn't interested in any of the higher output 450 being sold as my 470nm hits over 6W but now I'm interested. 1 would go in on one if they can hit 10W.
I am a bit confused on the g-ball lens. Are you saying that the g-ball is set for infinite focus already or not? I really like my lasers to be focusable though.
I mentioned in another thread basically wondering what the limit of a 3-element lens is with their coatings as there must be a limit on how much heat can be absorbed and how much a diode can take reflected back to it.
By the way Red, nice Fluke. I love all my Fluke meters. In my opinion they are worth the $. They can take some serious abuse in all weather conditions and are extremely reliable. I've never had an issue with any I've owned and used them in commercial industrial refrigeration for 18 years while everyone else kept having to repurchase their cheaper meters over and over because they couldn't handle the temperature and weather extremes.
I own the newest 87V but once a year our entire neighborhood has a garage sale and a few years back and this lady had a brand new original one sealed in the box that her husband had apparently tly purchased (I got the feeling he passed away) and she had a $10 sticker on it. I didn't try and get it any cheaper:) Own a bunch of lower models plus some great clamps including a 381. On the flip side I have at least 10 of those free meters you get with coupon from Harbor Freight. Put them in different places in the house and each car has one in it. Nice to have a meter in your car just in case. Try to warn people about them though as they don't have real safety features and they could blow up in your face if you change the dial position while taking a reading in some circumstances. Saw it happen to someone but he got lucky as his head was turned.

Since I haven't seen anyone look at my 650nm thread since I put up more information with pics please take a look at why I have been recommending them lately here:

TECHHOOD the only source for these at the moment just raised his price from 800 to 1200.

Now we know the Chinese assemble the projectors for the Japanese companies, so this NUBM08E is no doubt in a new for 2016 projector, maybe not released yet, so we keep our eyes on the new projectors, look for an economy model with high efficiency and a high lumens.

These blocks from China are probably not pulls, they don't buy and tear down as much as they get blocks off the assembly line I would bet.

So we may want to group buy a new projector with good looking specs and of course a laser engine, at the worse we get what ever diodes it has and share them.

There will be economy projectors and the blocks are not the most expensive part, for the manufacturers that is.

Keep your eye out for a new high efficiency data projector and we will decide if we want to roll the dice on it or not, together we can afford to do a lot more and end up with some good deals, and some we won't buy again, unwanted spares could be sold on ebay, but collectively we could search out the goodies.

I spoke with the girl from my supplier and she said they are trying there best to obtain some of these diode banks. She said they are pretty excited about it so that in of itself shows its going to be good. As soon as they can get their hands on some they'll let me know. They have better prices than techhood. So whether we catch a break and find out the projector model or get a good price just for the diode block a group bye will definitely help. Because timing will be key. Just like with the 06 as soon as the world finds out supply will be an issue.

Im going to see if techhood will sell a single diode. That would be a good start and answer some questions.

No, I have a closet full of boxes and trays of parts and lenses as well as many lightly used lasers that I don't even bring out very often and would not mind selling off some lasers.

My daily favorites spot has been taken over by MX-900's but I like what works and although gold plated customs with hand engraving would be nice it's not what I do, but I digress, I also have some lightly used lasers I wouldn't mind selling to safety minded buyers.

My daily play box not counting my desktop collection. Looks like a MX-900 farm. I would really like to do a whole block build, maybe even a block of 07E all intact just with a Cyl pair for each on shelves in front of the Gballs.

Oh I totally would buy that bank from tech hood on my own, the thing is, I don't know how to open the bank, don't think I have the tools for it and if I'll be able to sell the remaining diodes.

Hmm..

They might extract the diodes for you. They definitely do that. It's not that hard to get them out. It just time and patience. I still think that's way to much money. I just talked to them about getting some individual diodes but they don't have loose. The NUBM06 is a much better deal.

I was just thinking why don't we see exactly who is willing to pay for this diode. If we have enough $ we should get it. It's only a little over $100.00 a piece.

Yeah, that's definitely a good idea. Kinda wish Red would have gotten it before they raised the price. That would have been a lucky move.
