Definitely interested in anything 589nm-related... maybe we can get lower prices on various models if we get enough total buyers, like a universal percentage discount on all (or a wide selection of) 589nm models. That way we don't have to get everyone to conform to one or two select models and we'd get more buyers, as well as a wider selection. Just some thoughts, and thanks again to Glenn for all his efforts

I'm really interested in getting some more exotic colors in the GLP...
I would LOVE a 556nm 5mW as well as a 671. Now, if anyone can get me a ~610nm 5mW pointer...

Yeah I'd also like to have such exotic colors like 556 or orange 610-620nm
I also asked CNI about a 556nm portable and they said it could be done (as they will make all custom wishes if you can afford it ;)
They just told me they would have to check with their ingeneer and I told them to let it be as I won't buy anything so expensive
So wait until they got something exotic regular and not custom made :)

I would sell my soul for a portable 600nm-625nm, if it is even remotely possible then could someone get a quote on it? I doubt they'd even bother responding to such a ludicrous request unless it's from someone more important than my mere mortal self

Anyways, I know 593.5nm's are now "obsolete" in a sense, and demand has certainly died down compared to the more stable 589nm models, but do you think we'd be still able to get our hands on some cheap pointers at <$250? Thanks Glenn :yh:

Yeah, I can relate on the orange color, (610nm +/-), as, its nearly the last good size hole in my collection... OK, well, maybe blue/ green, (about 510nm), too... As for the best deal on pointer 593.5nm pens, I do think we should try to make a offer once a group of say 8 to 20 of them are definately being bought, as I think it will give us some real pull if the order is good sized. As for other wl's I think I'll ask again, but all the while they were developing the 447's they said nothing to me , (save for not available,) and now look! So, I seem to have little pull so far... -Glenn

I think we might even get around $300 for the 5mW GLP's (not the "2.0-4.9mW" LG ones though... that's not what I call 5mW :p) if we get over 8 people in... anyways I'm definitely in, and I'll be awaiting that quote (if/when you happen to have some spare time).

If CNI offers bare 671nm and 589nm modules, would it be too much trouble to get a price on them? Thanks again for all your work Glenn.

I'd buy a 589 5mW pen for $300... :D

Any idea when the GB will close? I'm interested in the PGL III-C-447nm <500mW, but want to see how it'll fit into my budget before I commit.

Edit: It's just too bad the >500mW versions aren't available in the US, still drooling over DJNY's review.

Oh man, if it ran on an 18650, I'd totally be in this GB. I can't bring myself to buy CR123A lasers for some reason. Maybe it's the fact that there are so many shady companies selling cheap, unreliable ones; or selling them at voltages different from the one that was stated; and the chargers are never the right voltage; and no laser manufacturer seems to be able to give a straight answer as to whether or not their laser can run on the rechargeable CR123A's.

18650... if only.

The CR2s are the ones I hate. At least with CR123As they can be charged reliably. The CR2s rarely have protection circuits or other attachments, and the CR2s are expected to have 3.0V, not 3.6, so often that messes with things.

For the new guys --:

Hey guys. Just posting so that hopefully some of the Arctic folks (or perhaps people who have been burned by WL) notice.
Just sort of a summary for new folks, since Glenn says he'd like to see more committed orders here:

We're trying to get 10 people together so that we can get the CNI 447nm laser for the price of $270. Note that CNI's PGL-III-C has generally been a very high quality laser and CNI has a far better reputation around here than Wicked Lasers.

So , if you have cancelled the Arctic (and I've seen a lot who have) - you can get a laser that uses the same diode that the Arctic does, for less than or around their current price - but get a far more reliable laser.

Just PM scopeguy20 if you're interested and we can include you in the group buy.

I know a lot of newer folks here haven't done a group buy - but as you can see, this is #11; and we've had pretty good success so far with them.

--

... As far as RCR123As go. I'd guess for some reason CNI wants a bit more available voltage than an 18650 can supply. I've had little trouble with my RCR123As, ~3.0v (LiFePo) ones are available pretty readily. I guess the other good thing though is if you HAD to use primary CR123As, you could. They're expensive, but at least you'd have the option, instead of some of the folks here who ended up with one bum 18650 and couldn't even find one in their entire town.

I can attest to this. I know my post count isn't in the 1000's but I have been a long time member and Im on here every day. I can vouch for Glenn (Scopeguy) and CNI lasers. I was a part of GB number 7 I believe, sometime last summer. I ordered a a 5mW GLP-473nm, What I received was an overspec 16mW stable average laser that would have sold for wayyyyyy more than the amount I paid. Glenn tested it on his meter and even wrote the average output on the box for me. I have a very detailed review of the laser and my experience with the GB here:

16mW 473nm Review - ScopeGuy CNI GB

Now as far as CNI, for those that do not know, Wicked Lasers used to sell CNI lasers. They're selection is basically what DragonLasers or nova sells. Wicked started making there own hosts to be unique and maybe turn a larger profit who knows. Im sure to alot of you the host of the PGL isn't as pretty as the spyder host is but its going to be a better product I can assure you.. I will be taking part in this GB one way or the other. Ive already stated that I would like to purchase several CNI lasers from this GB, and I know I will get good solid lasers for my money, ill know what there true output is ( if Glenn still tests em b4 shipment), and ill be satisfied just like before. -End Speech-
