hm, well I know they can do 480 and 491; -- I know that SpectraPhysics' Cyan uses 976->488 (doesn't it?) So we'd have to be talking directly doubled then, is that what you're getting at? With a 980 input and a 490 output...

Judging by the efficiency of the CNI unit, I really wouldn't be surprised if it is directly doubled.

Even then both the 480 and 491nm units have little-to-no efficiency (given that there must be substantial pump powers involved to warrant the use of the MGL-H host over the MGL-III host), and putting them into a handheld will be a challenge.

I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm just saying it's going to be mighty hard and for them, perhaps not fesible/worth doing.

Depending on the pricing, I might be interested in a 490. I'd probably be more interested in a 515 though. Looks like it'd be cheaper and more powerful, plus it's not a wavelength you see every day. I've got most of the popular solid-state wavelengths now, so my "next step" is into some of the more esoteric wavelengths.

I'd be interested in a 515 also.. One more WL that won't heat the house when I fire it up... Don't get me wrong, I love my 515 ArIon, but having it in DPSS would be nice.

So, yeah, i'd be up for that, too.

Push 'em hard, Glenn! And if that doesn't work, just beg them :)

(Lord knows I've tried. They'd probably say 'no' to my 561 request nowadays.)

Well 7 months after the WL fiasco, I finally have my CNI 445! Thanks a bunch Glenn! I can hardly believe the burning capabilities compared to the O-Like 700mW 445

BTW: which battery would work best for this laser, 3.0V or 3.6V?

I'd really caution against ever using 3.6v RCR123As in these at all. The initial 4.2v on those leads to an 8.4v initial output which is much higher than the ~6.0v (give or take 0.4v) input the laser is expecting.

3.2v LiFePo4 / 3.0v LiIon (such as the Tenergy ones) are what you should go with in this.

Isn't the 589nm a 1X CR2 battery pointer? -Glenn

He's talking about the 445, Glenn - so thats correct... But I'm guessing he means the CR2 version are feeding his 589...

.. Keep those 589's at room temperature by the way, guys. Makes all the difference in the world.

I´m talkin about my PGL-III-A-589nm which runs on 1x DX CR123 LiFePO4 batt ;)

Wow. Crap. How could I forget that.. your amazing mutant PGL-III-A-589nm that I wish I had the spare cash for. :p That WOULD take the 123A.

Do you take payment plans? :)

Do you want the laser in parts? Should I cut it for you? :undecided:

Should be no problem to arrange a payment plan ;)
