I've considered the option of increasing the length of the head a short bit to allow for an additional fin but to be honest there really isn't a benefit that I see. The fins are a bit too skinny so yes we make them a bit bigger. we also make them a little further apart from one another. so far what I'm thinking is starting from the threads go up 1.5mm make a cut 1.5mm thick and 2mm deep. then move 1.5mm space and again 1.5mm thick cut but only 1mm deep then repeat 1.5mm space, 1.5mm cut 1mm deep

yea, unless you have those insanely long aixiz glass lenses, it is hard to focus the thing. its so deep in there. however, if we make it not as deep, then the cover will not be possible...

right which is why I didn't really want to add any more lenth to the head itself. I want it nice and small. but when we go to the c-mount barrels, I will make those bigger and deeper.

although there is alternatively the other option of making a focus tool. I will show you the one I use. it allows for focusing while still allowing the beam to shoot through it and you can still see the affects of your focusing on the beam.

When you go Cmount -- The power will be apparent and need the cooling. The added size will be needed.

Kenom -- Doing the math on your 1.5 - 1.5 - 1.5 .......... idea adds up to 12 mm for me. I'm reading 11.1 mm available space. Maybe we aren't communicating on the dimensions

LOL. sorry miscommunication on my part. In the initial post I indicated you were going to do 3 fins instead of 2. I did NOT however indicate that on the second post where I gave the dimensions of 1.5mm x 1.5mm . 3 cuts = 9mm. (plenty of room)
