To be honest when it comes to the darker colors especially black it will not make any difference to polish it prior to anodizing.  I know if you were to go with like purple or blue however it would change the color that is being anodized to be more of a polished look to it instead of a matt look.  I think that's probably the ONLY difference that the polishing is going to make prior to anodizing with the exception of clear.  I think the best way of explaining what it would be would be the difference of painting something with fingernail polish or an acyrlic paint that was thicker.  Hope that gets my idea across.

Thanks for that info. I was under the impression that the polishing would "smooth out" the micro grooves from milling machine.

My bad!

Actually the polishing will get rid of those machine grooves. and I talked with the anodizer and he said that polished black looks more glossy than unpolished black.

Purple preview is on the way mike, as well as black. I'm just having a good wrestle with the software at the moment though so it could be a day or 2.

Actually yes.  Purple is an anodizing choice.  Check the whistle pig site.  Do they have a something to purple fade?  then it would be safe to assume that they can indeed do purple alone.

Ya know mike, I had every intention of getting your Kryton Groove anodized in purple for ya as part of a poke back atcha for this wonderful joke :) but YA DIDN'T ORDER ONE!!!

Well if you can get it done in purple then I'll take the second barrel in purple. So 1 red anno and 1 purple anno.

I've missed something... Yet again. Is the clear anodizing going to actually be clear, or will it look like the matte aluminum they have on the website? Sorry for the stupid question. :D

That is kind of unclear as to the EXACT color the clear will be. I think it will be like the matte. Or similair to the render that scog did.

Cool.  Purple is cool especially if your going to be turning it into a bluray.  Now I plan on seeing if it's possible for them to anodize the Bluray ensignia onto the side of the barrels.
