They have arrived (half of them anyways) See here:

With permission from Kenom, I have set out to bring the Kryton Groove back. I'll be paying Kenom a set amount for each I sell, but I'll be handling all aspects of the production, sale, and shipping of the Krytons.

As of right now, The Kryton Groove will not be offered with custom anodizing. Kenom said he is still capable of anodizing, so if you're interested in anodizing speak to him directly.
This first run is for 5.6mm & 9mm diodes only.

This is technically not a "Group Buy" This is more of a presale. A presale to lessen the burden of production costs is the only practical way I see to do this.

So, let's get started.

What is a Kryton Groove?
The Kryton Groove is a custom laser host. One of the first, and still one of the best. It has a very simple design which keeps it looking great and has remained practical since Kenom made it about 4 years ago.
It uses a rear clicky switch, and is designed for use with 1x18650 or 2x16340 batteries. It has a separate compartment inside the barrel which gives ample room for the laser driver. The head is finned for increased cooling and has a direct diode pocket. The newest design also features a focus adapter threaded for a standard M9x0.5 lens.
The barrel has 4 grooves milled into the side. These grooves can be lined to provide a rubber grip of just about any color. Tritium vials also fit nicely inside these grooves.

You can do a google search for the kryton groove and find many pictures. Here is one so you've got an idea.

How long will it take to receive my order?
Because of past problems with Kryton GBs I felt it necessary to address this concern. Once I am comfortable that we'll meet a minimum number of presale orders, I'll open up a payment page on Mohgasm.com At that time, payments will be collected and the order will be placed. I normally request a 10 day production time from the CNC shop, as well as 3-5 day DHL Express shipping. So we can expect the Grooves to show up on my door step about 2 weeks after the order is placed. From there, all orders will be shipped out.

What's included with the purchase?
The Kryton Groove consists of the tailcap, barrel, head, and focus adapter. Your Kryton Groove will also come with a spacer, clicky switch, switch cover, retaining ring, and O-rings.

I'll also be trying to acquire colored rubber inserts and o-rings to include with each host.

Anodizing & Polishing options.
For those who would like anodizing or polishing, I can ship your units directly to Mrcrouse.
Anodizing:
Mrcrouse is offering anodizing for the Kryton Groove for $20ea for a solid color.
Color samples can be found here:

*Colors may vary slightly from the pictures based on surface finish, and other variables.

Polishing:
Mrcrouse is also offering polishing for the Kryton Groove for $20ea.
Here is a sample of his work:

The million dollar question. What does it cost?
If I recall correctly, the Kryton Grooves normally went for about $60 each.

I am still hammering out details with the CNC shop, but you should expect them to be about $25ea + shipping.

This is only if we hit our target though.

I'll start a list in the OP.
We're going to need around 50 to make the order.....

LOL! I knew you would be back. (even if it's outsourced to China!)

Put me down for one please. I've been wanting one of these since the day I joined, but I've never pulled the trigger on getting one. (For various reasons)

If you start doing the anodizing work yourself, I might be interested in one of those as well. :)

I'm not sure on the different style heads. I MAY see if I can talk them into machining a small quantity with this order.

As far as anodizing. Custom anodizing isn't a viable option, unless we go with 1 style...

kenom said that he still does anodizing. If someone wants it done you could work out the details with him and I'd be more than happy to ship your order to him

Updated price. We can come down another $5 if we get enough pre-orders.

We had to go over a few more details with the barrel and they'll be requoting it. As long as it's not a major change (Which I don't see happening) then the price should not change at all.

Another update. If we could get 100 Grooves sold initially, we could get down to $25ea + shipping.

I also sent off for a second quote with another company who is normally a little bit cheaper.

So come on guys! $25 for a freakin Kryton Groove!

It is a solit looking host but a bit thin isnt it? Not much heatsinking mass in the head either. Also I joined late I guess, but what's the hype about them?

They are 25mm in diameter. The entire host is one giant heat sink.

I don't think there is anything thin about it. The Krytons are pretty beefy.

an inner diameter of 18.5 and outer diameter of 25mm, so the walls are 3.25mm thick. That's a lot of aluminum. The head is direct diode style, which screws into the barrel, so the entire thing acts as one giant heat sink.
