Re: NEW THREAD--JETLASERS GB #4 Feeler

Find these two threads first 'what a GB is' by dave and 'what a GB is not'-by me. iirc they are located in the GB board.

If you read the OP for all three of the JETL GBs will will get a feel for how I ran them.

There were some changes made for each new one. You will find links to the JETL reg. prices and a list of GB prices in GB#3 OP. Once we get GB#4 going you can PM Gray for questions regarding models not listed and thier pricing on them.

You may want to PM members who have gotten lasers in the other finished GBs for their opinion.

<Most questions can be answered by reading the OPs for my other JETL GBs if not, THEN PM me. Those not in CONUS or canada must contact Gray to get in on the GB deals. sorry-- I have no intention of dealing with customs in all other countries.

Speaking of customs-- some things are way beyond our control- some risk is always involved and is assumed by all. I cannot say with 100% certainty that our package will not get delayed by customs and/or have a VAT added. WE have had no such probs so far.

But if this is not something that you cannot understand/accept then perhaps a GB is not for you.

My role in the JETL GBs is to collect the funds and transfer them to JETL. I get our stuff and then fwd it to you. We save on shipping and get the GB prices. For other questions PLease contact Gray. I make no profit on your buys, btw.

hope this helps

Re: NEW THREAD--JETLASERS GB #4 Feeler

Lol, thank you for that incredibly detailed explanation :)

I hadn't actually meant to request an explanation of GBs in general - though I see now that my inquiry was ambiguous. That's for that level of detail.

I had just meant for info as to this specific GB (primarily because I was confused at not seeing any pricing details).

Also - and this may sound silly - but in trying to read your previous GB threads for context (which I did do before inquiring), I actually DIDN'T SEE most of the text. I have the white theme turned on in my forum settings, and the color of the text, perhaps in combination with my contrast/brightness settings, made the text essentially invisible. I think this is where most of my confusion came from ;)

Every time I look on the right hand side of my screen next to this thread and see that Hak was the last person to post here, I get excited. Am I the only one?

I think you're the only one... :p Any updates on this? Are we waiting for GB3 to be finished first? Do we have any prices for "new" parts, like the beam expanders, yet?

Re: NEW THREAD--JETLASERS GB #4 Feeler

I have added to the OP, copypasta from GB#3 pricing--subject to change- use only as rough guide. Not all models available- GB#4 is still in the Feeler stage. GB#3 is not finished yet and requires all my attention. see pos #1.

do you know of the average outputs of the 532 TI pens 250? are they as overspec as the PLC's?

IIRC wannaburnstuff got one of those in GB#2 or #1.

You could PM him although I have not seen much from him lately. It was nice- overspec and came in a wooden case. He was very happy with it.

I wonder, If i could ask gray, since the price says $280 for a 250, if i could get a test 300mW for $300? oh my devilish ways... and they are IR filtered I presume

edit: i just noticed the button is a momentary on/off, dang, that is the only thing to hold me back. gotta go plc now

Hey JackGT,
Sorry that we could not get a 300mw in the ti laser pen. Even 250mw is kinda difficult. :). Yes, they're ir filtered.

We might go ahead with lowered power version such as 100mw or 150mw, surely at a better pricing for GBs.

Cool, I was very interested in the TI pens, but the momentary switch was a turn down for me. So I'll be sticking with a PLC series 250

Re: NEW THREAD--JETLASERS GB #4 Feeler

Hmm how about a 500mW 635nm PL-C?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmkay

JETL is good but........ 500mW??? if that ever happens you had better have deep pockets.

As safety is paramount I am intentionally double posting the following copypasta from BatteryJunction-- Important info regarding inherient danger with some rechargeable batteries. I charge mine out on the carport.

quote:
No express or implied guarantee of compatability with any device can be made. Please do your research and make sure that this battery is compatable with the item you intend to use with. For SureFire and other brands of incandescent(halogen, krypton, xenon, etc) flashlights we do not recommend these batteries unless you're using them in a manner consistent with the voltage requirements of your lamp. Charge only in a smart charger designed for 3.6V Lithium Ion batteries. Do not mix and match old and new, used and unused batteries. Do not dispose in a fire. Use special caution when working with Li-ion cells, they are very sensitive to charging characteristics and may explode or burn if mishandled. Make sure the user has enough knowledge of Li-Ion rechargeable batteries in charging, discharging and assembly before use. Always charge in/on a fire-proof surface. Never leave charging batteries unattended. We are not responsible for damage if there is any modification of the batteries/chargers in any form or shape (including pack making). We are not responsible for any damage caused by misuse or mishandling of Li-Ion batteries and chargers. We only recommend using Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries with a control circuit (protection PCB) to assure safe charge, discharge, etc, use of lithium ion batteries with a protection circuit is potentially hazardous.

be careful

Yea, the PL-Cs are awesome. I was going to get the 150mW but now I am leaning towards the 250mW. go big or go home right?

For sure. Evidence: 400mW CNI PGL-III-C 532 that actually averages and peaks a heck of a lot higher than that... :D
